We just put a set of these on our Silk Green - what do you think?

Those are pretty sweet rims, I dig the Silk Green too, not as feminine as I thought it would look. Of course, what MINI doesn't look cool?!

Check out The Tire Rack, they have added the MINI to their site so you can bring up your car in your color and add about 30 different wheels to it and see how it looks. Their prices are allot better than the dealers too.

NICE RIMS!!!

What's the Tire Rack's URL. I guess I'll search Google. Is it hard to find rims for the MINI that will go with the run-flat tires? What should I be looking for? How much should I expect to pay for a set of 4? I'm thinking of changing out my 16" 5-spoke stars for something flashier and shinier. Anything will be helpful.

Thanks!

Thank you all for your compliments! That's my green machine. I really didn't want to go to 17's, but they were too perfect! 17x7, forged, 12.3 lbs, hub centric, 42 offset, killer looks... I couldn't justify going with a smaller, heavier wheel. I LOVE THEM! If you guys want to know the specs and pricing it's all here:

BTW, it's great to be on the list. I'll keep the Blue Potato staight if he gets out of line

Does anyone know how much the stock 16 and 17 inch rims for the Cooper S weigh?

Here's what the weights are supposed to be:

The 16x6.5, 5-Spoke is 20.1, the X-lite is 17.6. The 17x7 S-Spoke is 25.1, and the CrossSpoke is 24.1. The factory upgrades are pretty heavy! Runflats are not the lightest tires either due to their thick sidewalls.

I hope that helps.

Regards
Hector M.

Ach that is heavy.

Does that second link with the wheel and tire combo include runflat tires or only non-runflats? I am guessing nonrunflats.

Yes, those are standard tires. While there are obvious pluses to runflats, standard tires provide a more pleasant ride and lower weight. Those Falkens in particular are very light even in their size range, which is why I chose them. So far I'm very pleased with them all around.

I is bad enough that you see in on this site, you should live in Marietta only 6 or som miles from them and work even closer, close enough to drop by the shop at lunch with the Visa card in hand. That is an ugly site and a once a month time to tell the wife what you are up to.

I must admit I'm somewhat clueless on tire/wheel combos. I've ordered a 2003 MC with 195/55R-16 (5 spokes with run flats included in the sports package) . If and when the run flats are needing to be replaced, will a regular tire (non-run flat) fit on the wheels?

Just to add one more thing. My MINI should be sitting at Charleston harbor ready to go to Distribution Center TODAY. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll have my MINI!!!

Congrats on your new Mini!
As far af your tires go-yes, you can put standard tires on your 16" rims. If your getting a Cooper, and not an S, you have a spare tire, so runflats are ggod, but not as usefull. You can go to any wheel/tire combo you like, as long as it's for a Mini.

Enjoy your MINI! You'll love it!
