I'm buying toys for my MINI before I get it. Got a great deal on PIAA driving lights but in searching this and other forums there seemed to be no info about wiring this kit up to the 05 or 06 MINIs using the Xenon high beam. I Emailed PIAA and this was the response:

"The low beam utilizes the H.I.D system and the high beam uses an H7 style
bulb . The H7 only has a ground wire and a positive wire."

I hope this helps future installers of these great little lights. I do have one reservation about connecting this unit to work with the high beams on Xenon lights. On another forum one poster said that the PIAAs blew out one of his Xenons. Anybody aware of this issue?

Week 36, 2006 and sitting on a production number. By the way JJ Blue is actually the name of my new baby once he is born. And yes he is a boy.

 

The xenon's on MINI's is the low beam light. The high beams are a conventional halogen light.

 

Thanks for the clarification. I'm not so worried now about the install even though it is at least two months away. Xenons on low makes me a bad boy in the city and a double dose of halogens will fend off the beasts of darkness on those lonely country roads found on the Great Plains or Towering Peaks of the Colorado landscape. Yeee Haaa!

 

You & JJ Blue should have no problems seeing as you dive bomb tourists on Mount Evans.
