I just bought a 2005 MCS that I love. The color combination, though very attractive, is not my first choice. I have the Dark Silver with a black roof. I like the Dark Silver but I prefer my Mini's to have a roof lighter than the body. My first two Minis were this way. I got a good quote to have my roof and mirror caps professionally painted. Do you folks think I should go with a traditional white or the newer silver? What about hood stripes? Thanks.

 

I say that the stripes, mirror caps, and roof should all match. If you can get the right shade of silver, you'll have a hawt MINI!

 

Go for the silver . . . It will be unique!

*edit* Silver stripes too. A good sign shop should be able to closely match the paint.

 

You will need to choose based on your own preference by looking at real examples. I don't think you'll really like either. I feel white only goes well with non-metallic collors (unless it's a pearlescent white). Light silver on top of a dark silver seems a bit wierd. But, thats just my taste. If I could have found a dark gry/black with the right options (used) , I would have gotten it as that is my favorite combo. .... Just one person's opinion.

 

You could also do your roof in vinyl and change it later if you don't like it!

 

Silver. I think black and silver look really good, but I think the white on silver looks a little weird. I don't know. It's okay I guess.

 

I really like white but it's all personal choice. Both would look good.

 

I vote for white! I mean, I have nothing against silver. Don't get me wrong, a lot of my friends are silver, but...

No but seriously, DS/W IMHO is one of the top color combos!

 

I've seen silver on that car, and it looks fantastic, but I'm a white fan personally. But hey, at least you know that either way it will look good, right?

 

My first MCS was an '02 DS/W and got many compliments on what a great color it was. You can take that for what it is worth. Obviously I am biased.

I almost got the same combo for my '06 MCS but decided; "New car, new color." Instead I ended up with the Space Blue/Sliver combo.

 

Yes, I think silver would be very unique.

 

White. Silver/DS really don't match well, it's a very funny contrast. Dark Silver is just dark enough to set the white off--it's a very classy but still sporty look. Especially if you're going to go with bonnet stripes...

 

Thanks for all the input. I am leaning towards white. I like the idea of the vinyl. I wonder if that would work out well.

 

I've heard positive reports about the vinyl. You should be fine with that. Though, if you ask me, I'd lose the bonnet stripes if you go with the white.

Another vote for silver.

 

I fell in love with the two-tone silver, both on the website then at the dealership. I would go with silver. Unless you're in Albuquerque, then go with white so my car's the only one around. --doug

 

Just got a 06 cooper JCW S Astro black with silver top. Hope this helps to make up your mind.

Yeah the new Astro black is really nice. I don't usually get black cuase of the dirt and scratches, but this has a metalic shine to it. You have to see one up close. Looks dark blue in the shade and sparkles/black/ blue in direct sun light.

WHAT IF YOU DID NAVY OR COLBOLT BLUE?
OR A WINE COLOR?
OR RED?
IF YOUR GONNA REPAINT GO FOR A TRUE UNIQUE COLOR COMBO.

 

I too have AB/S... good combo... definitely better than white..

 

This is a cool idea! You could do something really unique.
