I went to a local sign shop in my area, and inquired about bonnet stripes. They quoted for a pair of white w/ the black ruled edge for $200.00 using high performance vinyl. Does this seem a bit steep in price? They were a bit snobby so I didn't inquire what other grades of vinyl that would work. Any advice?

I had about $75.00 in mind since I remember you replying to a post of mine a few months back regarding bonnet stripes..heheh When the guy told me $200.00 I was stunned Thanx for your help I will have to shop around. BTW- what grade of vinyl did you get from the sign shop you used? Also another quik note what is the width of the stripes and the width of the ruled edge? I ask this since I really liked your bonnet stripes and I wouldn't mind having the same format you used

Or I could have fluoro pink stripes with a white ruled edge. I even thought it would be cool to have glow in the dark bonnet stripes

Yours is über cool too

I'm not sure of the vinyl quality, but it is 3M. I'm pretty fickle about stripes too. These are actually the third set on my MINI (although they are also my favorite pattern). This should be fairly cheap, so maybe just accept that you can play around a little and try out a couple designs over time.

My current stripes:

White Ruled Edge: 7/16"
Black Center: 3 7/8"
White Ruled Edge: 7/16"

So where did you get your bonnet stripes, especially so cheap? and you've change the stripes a couple of times?.. was it easy to uninstall and reinstall? Did you see any discoloration on the hood between where the stripes were and the parts exposed? one mroe thing.. do your stripes go down teh back of the mini as well?

I got my from a actual sign supply place. I purchased 2 sheets of 12" wide white and black. Cost me about $20 bucks for both. I then went to a sign shop where they cut them out for about $10 bucks. They made 2 duplicate sheets each with 3 4.5" stripes and 7 .25" stripes. This gave me 2 complete sets with some to spare for mistakes or incase one gets trashed for some reason.

I used one set and sold the other to another MINI owner.

Total cost -10 dollars and about an hour of time.

Trick is not to purchase the vynal from the same place that they cut. That's where they get their money.

We also have the bonnet stripes and they are in your price range $79.00. We offer the Standard Mini stripes along with the Viper and Racing Stripes in White, Black, Silver and Shadow. We will also provide the pinstripes (white or black) at no charge.

Hope we can help you out matt@cooperflags.com

P.S. -We can do custom colors also - just let us know what you are looking for and we can most likely do it.

Could it be possible to get a pair that just static cling? I saw another place online that offered these, but they didn't have the ruled edge. Also, I am curious if there is a vinyl that glows in the dark? I am still stuck on the idea of glowing bonnet stripes at night.
