Wire Routing Troubles

I am trying to route a wire from the engine bay to the cabin. I know that there is a harness that passes through by the right cowl, but how do you get a wire through there!??! There is a rubber thing over it REALLY tight that I can move. Is there another way to get through? I'll post pics If I need to.

Thanks,
William

Not sure if it will work in this case, but what I generally do is take a wire coat hanger, snip off the "hook" and "twist" part, round the ragged edges with a flat file and shove it next to the existing wires in the middle of the rubber grommet and thru the firewall.

Once thru, tie the wire to the coat hanger (I use 0.030 safety wire) and rapidly "pop" the coat hanger thru the rubber grommet with a rapid movement.

The best way to run a wire through there is this, Poke a small hole through the rubber, just off to one side of the center. Now take a small tube, something about the size of a large drinking straw, but stronger and work it through that small hole you made, the rubber will stretch out enough so it's a very tight seal. Now you have a chase to run wires through.
Trying to get a coat hanger through the center hole where all the wires run is a bad idea. If you damage one of those wires you are in very big trouble.

poke a hole, take a coat hanger, straighten it out, tape the wire to the tip of the
hanger and just push it through the hole from the engine bay.

then roll onto the floor of your driver side with your back on the floor, look up
with a flash light. if you still can't see it, forget it. you weren't meant to be
working on cars. jk (it's that easy).

Its probably just SO obvious that I am ignoring it! I'll do a combo of that and the "straw" idea. I have some 1/8th'' hose from a fish tank that I'll use.

Thanks everyone for the help!

I use weedeater line. It's flourescent yellow and, unlike a coat hanger,
non-conductive. Just push it through, tie your wire to the other end,
and pull it through. Works great.
