What do you think of this style driving light

This is a light by Hella that has been discontinued so I can get a pretty good price on it. Apparently it's not as bright at the ff200 or ff300s but I like the retro style. It is 5.25" round and 5" deep. I'm down to this one or the ff100, which is an oval and a bit smaller than the ff300s.
Here's the one that's on sale

And here's the ff100, which is 6" wide by 3.14" tall by 3.48" deep.

Hopefully I can make this decision and leave y'all alone

I like the idea of the retro look. Depending on where you're planning to mount the lights you may have a difficult time with the depth of the lights. 5" deep lights are actually pretty deep, so I'd suggest you measure carefully with the mounts you're planning on using before laying out any money for these.

Those round lights look much like a larger and deeper version of the factory driving lights. It seems that the mount is set pretty far back on the housing, but I would still try and get all of the dimensions to see how much hangs towards the grille. There is some extra space on the factory brackets, but not a great deal. You might be able to gain a small fraction of an inch on the factory brackets by elongating the mounting hole forward.

The oval lights dont do it for me, the MINI is all about round.

yeah, my heart is with the retro one. I'm going to call and see if I can return them if they don't fit. I was going to go with the Hella bracket that is made for the MINI so maybe it will work??? If not, then I will exchange for one of the Hellas that is made for the bracket, the ff100 or ff200.

Ok, talked to a guy at rallylights.com. He's not committing to whether or not those bullet ones will fit on the brackets they offer for the MINI. I may just order a set of the ff200's with all the wiring and brackets and then order a set of just the bullet ones and see if they will work. If not, maybe I'll sell them on ebay or offer them up on NAM to see if someone else wants to give them a shot.
I did find the complete set-up for the ff200s for $269.50 here
http://www.electrodyne.cc/Merchant2/...uct_Code=75240
So that's saving me about $90 over the other set.

To me those look like they belong on a garden tractor not a fine car like yours. IMHO the more modern lights do a good job of lighting the way. The FF200's should be fine. Me, I'll be going with Hella 500 driving lights on Madness brackets.

Where does it say those lights are the Hella FF200's? The part number (75420) does not match Hella's part number for the FF200 Mini Cooper kit (74519).

I've been looking at all of these myself and the two best prices that I feel comfortable knowing what I'm getting (having not purchased from either site before) are below:
http://www.seattlediscountparts.com/...cat=276&page=1

I also called up DeNunzio Racing (http://www.denunzioracing.com/) because they are a Hella provider. While the item is not on their website as they do not keep it in stock, they can order it for $307 plus shipping/etc.

That deal for $265 seems way too good to be true. Any idea what shipping costs would be because there is no easy way to check on the site. Thanks!

Hope my info is helpful as I have learned much from reading this and other threads about driving lights.

I emailed them and asked them what brand/model the lights were and what was included in that price.

Here is the response:
These are the Hella Comet 200 with FF reflector from Germany; brackets,
wiring harness, and instructions are included.

Customer Service

I'm looking for the factory driving lights that fit in the lower portion of the spoiler. I had an 04 with these and I thought they were pretty cool!

Not yet, I've just gotten the new tail lights installed and am heading to the Dragon tomorrow so was going to do it when I get back. I figured that I could see a plethera of driving lights at the Dragon and wanted to wait to order until I saw a few different styles in person.
I'll post when I do!

Damn - SeattleDiscountParts updated the link to the lights - and raised the price to about $311 - a bit more than DeNunzio (an authorized Hella supplier) but with free shipping...
