I would really like to replace that big, square looking front plate with a very cool slick European spec version, white MINI COOPER lettering and frame on a black backgroud. Does anybody have any ideas where can I get one?

Thanks for your help fellow MINI maniacs!

P.S.
Check out my brand spank new silk-green Cooper on p.23 in Member Minis gallery.

Hi Karol,
Congrats on the car! Nice!!

Re: Euro Plates.....
This topic was mentioned a while back. You may be able to find what your looking for by doing a search in the Forums area.
If memory serves me..... I think some links were posted of places that sold them.
Hope this helps.

Yeah - I posted them - I acually found a local shop here in GA who has genuine german ones - hard to find the UK or Ireland ones. Just look back on a few threads.

One place is: http://www.autoplates.com/ki14000.htm

Thanks for the info, but I'm looking for the MINI COOPER plate from Mini ads and poster. It's not a country plate, it has the same shape but it only contains white MINI COOPER letters on a black background with a thin white border around the plate.

Also, I'm looking not just for the plate, but for the body matching plastic mounting panel that replaces the big one for the USA spec plates. This way you are not abstracting the clean lines of the nice front grill.

Karol,
Sorry we didn't help..... maybe someone else will have some info for you....
I did however want to add......
From what I have seen It looks like the regular plastic mounting bracket comes off and leaves an opening just right for the Euro plates..... am I wrong?

Anyone else out there done this?

Ok, thanks. I haven't had a chance to take plastic part off. I was under impression that the whole thing is just a one big piece that you have to replace with one fitted for European plates.

Thanks for your help!

Karol - let me try to help you further.

For an example, You can got to this company (or one like it) and have one custom made: http://www.thedriversseat.com/plates-logos.html (scroll to very bottom to see what you can do)

See examples here:

Now, to remove your US spec (and ugly) plate, all you have to do is remove your front dealer tag (2 screws) - then under that you will see 2 more screws holding on the plastic mounting plate - unscrew those and pull down on he mounting frame - it pops right off in your hand - easy pleasy! You will then have a large 21" area that is open for your new "Mini" european spec plate.

When you get your new euro spec plate (usually 21" long I think), you will need to get the new generic mounting bracket:

This is only about $10 and you can get it at the time you order your "Mini" plate.I will have mine soon and I will post pictures and directions to show you how to do this.

I would recommend that you take off the US front plate assembly ASAP !

It looks much better without it, even if you don't put on a euro plate right away... and mine had a couple of sticky things on the back in addition to the two screws holding it on. I think these might leave permanent marks if you left them stuck on there too long.

 So unfair! I live in a state that requires you to have 2 plates - both the front and the rear! :???:

Just ordered one from the guys at Autoplate.com. Seems like it should be a viable source for the plates... only drawback, 2-2.5 weeks wait! God I am impatient when it comes to things like this. They were a bit pricey thought. About $50 with shipping... oh well love isn't cheap...
