It's what owning a MINI is all about; I think the flames rock!

Im not sure I would go with it on my car, but it IS the essence of the Mini culture. Looks very nicely done. I always appreciate individuality. I bet it gets alot of looks on the road.

ROCK ON boonefly,
Frank

I like it...
But as an artist myself... I have to say... I think the color choice was wrong. It's too clashy aesthetically... the blues work GREAT! But when it shifts to the reds it violates my eyes and senses. Remember, this is my opinion...

I think that if the Gold-Green-Purple-Blue Kameleons were used it would have looked SWEET!

It is FAR better than that UGLY Monster Garage PaintJob.... ICK

As far as innovations go, I applaude those Flames and admire the forthrightedness of your effort... All Mini's Look the Same.... Lets up the ante`, raise the bar... get more creative! YAY!

>>

I have to agree. I have been painting graphics on my cars for the past 13 years and I can tell you, it catches peoples eye. But from my experience, the color just clashes. I know plenty of people like that chamelion paint.....I don't.

I have had plans for flames on my mini before I even ordered it. I have been working on the design and I will hopefully get them done in the next 6 months.
I will surely post some pictures.

Good for you! I love it when people do something that nobody else has has.
Well done!

Eww. I mean, they're well done for what they are, but just not my taste at ALL! I definitely agree about the color-shifting paint choice....it just clashes! Yuk.

But you know what??! It doesn't matter what I think. I just hope boonefly likes them, then it's all good!!

Thanks for the comments. I agree that if I was going to do it again that I would changed the one color that goes to gold. The other point, that no one can see in a picture, is it changes every time I look at it. It depends on the amount of light and how direct. It does not just change a little, the total effect changes. A group of kids drove by me yesterday. They slowed down to see it again. They speed up only to see something different so to confirm, they slowed back down. The final time they passed me they had their cameras out taking pictires. That is what its about.

Awesome paint job! I'll probably go with the plastic removable flames for my Mini cuz theyre a lot cheaper and removable. Cool sig MiniMac!!! For a second I thought that was a real advertisement for 2fast 2 furious. I wonder if theres going to be a cooper s in the movie, that would be cool

The dynamics of this paint job are not done justice in these photos.

This is the one time a picture is not worth a thousand words. The changes as light hits the car at different angles are pretty amazing.

A must see in person!

I know the color shift paint VERY Well... Yes it is amazing...and it is fun... but I would have opted off the reds, for greens and silvers.

No Offense Please... I admire and applaude your individuality!

Please tell us how much and where!!!!

YAHOOOOOO!

The paint was quite expensive. It cost $44.00/oz just for the special PPG Harlequin paints plus the addition base paint and clear coats! We used 1 cup (8 oz) of each color. You have to start by masking off all of the fklames, placing a black base color. Then one of the two colors has to be masked, painted, dried. Done all over again for the second color. It has an additional 4 coats of clear top coat. The painting alone took a professional a good part of a week for.

Speaking of flame paint jobs...

Did anyone see the black cooper with a flame paint job on Ebay a few months ago? It was all black with an aerokit and the entire front end was painted white that transitioned into orange edged flames (hot rod style). Another very unique MINI. I looked for pics to share, but can't find it anywhere. What ever became of this MINI? Anyone save a pic?

Thanks for the props on the SIG!
From what I read and what I have viewed on the net and magazines, it doesn't look like any MINIs will be in the movie. Shooting of the film started in September. There weren't to many Cooper S available then....let alone a tricked out Cooper that would qualify for the movie. But who knows....We can only hope!

No, for the big news. Many of you out there might be lloking for a similiar flame job, or a different one, or a bigger one. Whatever. In a matter of 30 to 60 days, I will be up and running with my new printer capable of printing full color graphics for your MINI. Of course, mine will be the first. I am designing some wild flames for it. The cool thing is that I can print almost anything you want. Only limited by your imagination. And it will be cost effective.

I know from experience what a custom flame job costs on a car.....and it is permanent. With mine, you will be able to pick the color or change them a year or so for a different color or different design! Stay tuned....
