As far as I know the Nav is not in the loop with the ECM.

I also have Nav and would like to get digital speed. The small speedo is hard to read and it only has tick marks every 10 mph. I can only read speed to about a 3 mph accuracy.

OBD display. I have the lowest readout to show actual speed The 10.1mph is just memory from when it was last shut off...

If you do have on-board computer (included with Nav), you can display various computer functions including avg. speed, but real-time speed is not available.

You can set one of the five readouts to show speed in real time, rpm, engine temp, AIT, boost/vacuum, timing advance, and a bunch of other things I can't remember right now. However, at this particular display function, you can only see 5 parameters. There's another window that shows only 2 displays but with much larger digits. There's also a graph readouts...
Besides the cool readouts, it can also record/define the pesky error codes and if you choose, erase them
And...I forgot about the Palm Dyno feature

I, too, have the factory nav, and...
...(now, don't roll your eyes if you already know this, but) the 'average speed' selection on the on-board computer can almost give you your real-time speed just by pressing and holding the reset/select button on the left (turn signal) stalk. As it re-calculates average speed, you'll notice that it'll continuously adjust to your current speed within a half-second or so, until the next time you depress the select button.
Hope that makes sense; but I don't know if it's what you're looking for.
