Replacing H7 High Beams

I feel kind of dumb asking this question but, how do you remove the clip that holds the H7 high beam bulb in? I'm trying to replace my OEM H7s with some blue/white H7s.

I searched the forums and can't find any info that helps. I also know that I should buy the shop manual, sometime in the near future.

Thanks in advance.

Make sure you seat the new bulbs all the way. This will prevent any angle-ing problems.

I changed mine to Sylvania Silverstars. This the simplest/best upgrade ever since the stock H7s are weak.

I did the same thing (using SilverStars). I had them on a previous car's Low and High beams. My MINI has Xenon lows, which makes it even more obvious that the highs are too yellow & dull, so the Silverstars went in within days of delivery. They have no dumb fakey-blue tint, just a much purer white to match the Xenons.

As for installation, I was worried about those wierd clips on my '06 MCS, too. I tried prying them apart, but they kept popping back in place before I could get at the bulb. Funny thing is, you don't need to move the clips! You just grab the back of the bulb and yank down at a slight angle. The clips are just springy enough that the bulb will spread them apart on it's own and come right out. Just make sure you have a good grip on the bulb and don't pull too much to the side, because when it pops loose, the glass part could smack the sides of the housing and break. Installation of the new bulb is basically aligning the tab between the clips and PUSH it home .... done!

Once you do this one time, you will understand. The second bulb took me all of 15 seconds to change.

Also.................make sure that you don't touch the glass on the bulb or the oil from your skin will cause pre-mature failure.

It's a good idea to wipe the bulb off with some alcohol.

Thanks everyone. I've got xenons and PIAA driving lights (love them) and now I'm looking forward to the 'total while light effect' when I replace those stock H7s!!
