hey,

yesterday i got my alta mini antenna and i installed it. it looks great wit my black top, definately the best lookin on the market. but after drivin today and listenin to the radio i was very upset wit the reception!! :evil: , it is crap reception wit sooooooooo much static and inaudible music at times. at times it is about the same, but only for mayb a mile strecht. im really mad about the reception, has ne1 else experienced this problem wit their alta antenna??

 

I have had that prolbem in the past, thats why I dont bother with the antennas, the only things that I ever take a chance on are things that will make my car go faster. sorry,

I have had NO reception problems with my Alta Stubby. It seems the same as the stock antenna.

I would contact Alta and ask for a replacement.

I also have the Alta antenna and could hear no difference between it and the OEM antenna. I live in Portland, OR. I have traveled to Seattle twice in my MINI with the OEM and the Alta. Stations faded out in the same places, and new stations were picked up in the same places. Seattle is some 160 miles away.

 

i dont get it, in a place where i would get crisp reception, im gettin static, there is a constant static?? i dont know wat to do, i guess ill keep listenin and see... but thanks... keep postin if u have experienced problems

Sorry if this is obvious but you didn't say whether you tried this: have you replaced the OEM antenna to see if the problem goes away?

 

ya of course, i instantly noticed a difference

 

i've noticed that my mini has bad reception with the stock antenna!
much worse than my brother's GTI....
oh well i don't listen to radio much anyway!

 

Where did you guys get the Alta Antenna. I am thinking about doing the switch out on my PW/B.
