Possibly ridiculous question as I am new, but if one orders the rally lights and the fog lights, are all the toggle slots the utilized?

Nope! The Rally light switch is stuck to the left side of the dash (the textured black plastic area). This is an afterthough positioning, and is quite Ghetto. It is impossible to get all the toggle switches utilized from the factory on a U.S. spec MINI. Sucks, doesn't it! :evil:

NO, fog lights use a toggle but DRIVING LIGHTS have a switch on the panel to the
left of the steeling wheel.
Still one unused toggle, I believe for the "rear fog lights" on the European versions.

Hope this helps.

you can buy the european full 6 toggle switch panel, dunno on the price, however you won't be able to [easily] use the "rear fog light" switch [if at all].

alas, your requested faux toggle is authentic, albiet not usable!

would the dealer be able to order the european switch panel do u think? I wish iI had any electrical know-how myself so that i could turn this pet-peeve into my pet project....if anyone out there has found a solution to this livable but quirky design problem, (particularly in the Mass area if you're handy w/ installs) let me know... Thanks for the info otherwise, ryephile :smile:

ya, that would be great if the dealer could order the panel just anyways, cuz it looks better. also, then we could re-wire the rear fog lights

Chrisscat,
Keep an eye on this thread over on MINI2:
MINI2

I had "MikeyTheMini" ship me the toggle switch panel from UK; MINI Peabody installed it for me ... I have yet to start the effort of trying to get the rear fogs to work, but at least I wont' have a gap :smile:

I would love to see a flaming MINI! I'll try to work on that myself and see what I can come up with. Any takers on a MINI with side pipes that shoot flame? Especially handy for those pesky crowds that always want to look in the window J/k!

There is a finshed spot for the rally light switch on the left side of the driver's parcel shelf. See the thread here about the '"Parcel Shelf" Retro-Fit' for details.

How 'bout this

why doesn't one of you parts wizards make a dummy toggle that we can glue over the blank to give it the appearance of being full?

Then maybe some labels

* anti SUV missles

* ejector seat

* rocket boost

* passenger silencer

heck, back it with a piece of rubber foam and we could even flip it up & down for no purpose....

Was there an extra wire on that harness that matched up in color to the rear fog? or did the rear fog just work after plugging in the harness?

I have the full toggle switch. I don't have my MCS, but by golly, I have the full bank of switches.

The cost runs ~$110-130 depending on the exchange rate. That included shipping.
On MINI2.COM there is a guy with the handle MIKETHEMINI. He will ship them to you. I was very pleased. He shipped very fast.

As for the toggle switch actually doing anything, the answer is NO. The rear fog is disabled in the software of the US/CANADA MINI's. Should this ever become available, I'm ready for it, now.

My reason for wanting the full toggle bank is because I think it looked ridiculous with the empty slot. Because of the design, MINI should have filled all the toggles and left them inoperable for features not found on the car.

See ya,
JS

Hi everyone, I'm fairly new here to MCO, but I've been doing allot of looking around about this issue of a less than a full rack of toggle switches. What I found was someone modified their US toggle switches buy adding the missing switch to it. And then since no icon is etched in the blank spot of the US switch box, he etched in a custom icon. Looks like a very nice mod. The switch now operates his garage door opener and the backlit icon matches the function. My question is. Could I purchase another US type switch box and part it out to modify my exiting switch box? Will the switches from the extra box fit into the bank spot? I would think that would be easier to do than to find a European box, plus you can customize the backlit icon to match the function you want the switch to do. Sorry so wordy, I over explain things sometimes.
