Doug Whalen rocks!

Just bought a pool ball gearshift **** from Doug and I understand why all of the folks who have bought ***** from him rave about them. Beautifully machined, absolute top drawer quality.

I'm not a fan of heavy gear shift *****, so I didn't think I was going to be doing any business with Doug, but when somebody pointed out in a thread that he was doing billiard ball shift ***** I knew that I wanted one. The ball isn't a heavy ****, so it that's what you're looking for you'll do better with one of his stainless ones. But for me, the pool ball **** is it. Love it, love it, love it. Well made, delivered fast, reasonably priced.

Thanks Doug.

Yeah, you can't start a thread about Whalen ***** and then NOT include a photo! I remember reading this in the Forum rules.

I agree!

I break those rules because I don't have the gear /know how to do it. I will state that (as I did on an earlier post) I had a regular Whalen for 1 yr. Saw a picture of the billiard ball and had to have it. I honestly like it better than my "old" whalen. It just seems the shifts are easier--maybe because of a little less weight and a little more to grab. I know some of you will say "more than a handful is a waste" I am keeping my other Whalen, might need it to keep a dog from chasing my MINI.

I just sent him the vector file for the DaVinci graphic and 1.5 days later it's in the mail!!

Yes, it's a nice mix and I love the way the shift pattern came out. I wanted the numbers but didn't want a traditional shift pattern image. As for the textures, I kept asking if I could have texture 'x' with texture 'y', and texture 'y' with texture 'z'. He came back with a list of things I could and couldn't do. What I really wanted was a bead blasted finish with a polished inside and that was one option that was eliminated because of the process for the bead blasting.

Bottom line is, he can do pretty much anything you can come up with, some exceptions apply, but Doug is great to work with and does an excellent job of taking ideas and making them a reality. Hard to find a true craftsman these days.

Doug is a class act. I had to return my Whalen since I didn't want to get addicted and then need to remove it for auto-x classing issues.

I shipped it back to him and he refunded my account same day.

Hands down the best mod I never installed.

I know. I know.

Believe me, I thought about it. But why would I want to get used to great shifting most of the time to put the stock **** back on the car when it "counts" so to speak.

That would suck. After turning my Miata into too much of track car, I swore to myself I would stay in GS.

The first year.
