I put in an email to 3M and they claim to not make a flexible and removable translucent vinyl. My main concern is finding a vinyl that is easily removed when I sell the car. I'd be more than glad to prep a file to have a batch laser cut when the best vinyl is determined.

Here are a few products I have come across:

3M Controltac > perfect, but no translucent black info

3M Scotchcal 230 > info

3M Scotchtint > removability? info

Gregory Trendfilm 6505 > info

Llumar > interior and exterior applications

Kapco 6609 >
info

Have you seen any of the samples? Most of the translucent blacks are opaque Let me know if your reserach turns up a suitable vinyl and I'll cut you (or whoever) a set for no charge.

I found someone else through another forum who is producing a lot of vinyl stuff for RSX's and Celica's that will not harm the stock lights. He has a lot of headlight masks--however, he has RSX & Celica taillight redouts & blackouts for $10!!!

VARIOUS HEADLIGHT/TAILLIGHT VINYL

CELICA BLACKOUTS

Except window tint is a nightmare to remove, isn't it?

I emailed the guy to ask him a few questions about durability, removability, and what kind of vinyl he's using.

I'll keep you posted.

Does the Madness film go on the inside? I would be more willing to look into it if it went on the inside. I think it would last longer.

Are there any sprays or anything to darken the lens? If there is, you could always take it off with paint thinner, right? I just have no clue what is already out there in different markets.

This place has rolls of vinyl and films of all sorts (with prices). I was looking at their Avery True Shadow film to do my own shadow stripes. They might have some black vinyl that would work.

madness swears their film is almost bullet proof. I just am hesitant to spend a c note to find out.Especially for something that can be produced so cheaply. I know tha tthe person who takes the time to CAD out the dimensions needs to be paid but, $100 seems steep, especially when other (more mainstream) cars have kits for SO much less.

Harmini, at $46 bucks for ten yards we could clean up. We should go into business. Or be alturistic and buy one roll get them cut out and give them away for the price of a stamp. What do you think?

I would buy it for $10. If it comes off you are not losing a $100 piece.

Fear not Cooperspeed, the Madness tinted tails are becoming a kit!! We are adding both the front and rear side reflector pieces, so you'll totally stealth.

Davbret,

Is the kit going to add to the already high price?? If so by how much? This is a really nice look but I have to agree with everyone it is a little steep. How long before the kit is avalible?? Thanks for the info.
