hey I was wondering if anyone knew if I could get a trip computer installed on my cooper S. I really figured out it was an option I should have ordered.

Thanks!

This does something more than the one next to your odometer?

your defeating the whole concept of owning a mini. your supposed to roll down the window at 70 mph while unfolding your road map and then have it ripped from your hands and have it fly out the window.you then have an exscuse to drive your mini longer because you are now lost...
2nd biggest wasted option you can order is cruise control. any real mini enthusiast wouldn't have it. why buy the most fun car in the world to drive and then sit there while it drives itself? Some Mini owners should have bought Lincoln Navigators loaded to the hilt. LET's MOTOR...

Hey,
I agree if you want a cool mini you have to have it plain otherwise it will get to heavy and boring and I only have the one option of the 17" wheels otherwise it is as light and most fun car to drive.

Let me repeat...useless options like computer and cruise control is the topic here.not gross vehicle weight. If your looking for a new auto loaded to the hilt, you should buy a Lincoln Navigator. Minis are all about pure driving fun. true mini enthusiasts don't load up minis with useless gadgetry. LETS MOTOR

I didn't mean navigation. I just meant the computer that tells your your MPG and miles left etc. I doubt that would weigh more than 1 pound.

Sorry, but it isn't that accurate anyway. Again I ask, why not use the trip mileage right next to the odometer. I reset mine to zero at every fill up. You can handily calculate your mileage at the same time with greater accuracy than that accumulative average mileage that the computer gives you. It always is n% optimistic over what I calculate using the trip meter.

Oh my goodness....this thread is out of control. The point of owning a MINI is to have it exactally the way you want it. If you want a computer, go buy it. I'm sure you can have it installed at MINI service. (albeit it may cost a bunch) I agree that this little thing is fun to play with. I cycle through my computer at least twice on every long trip. My MPG has always been accurate, pending I reset it the same time that I fill up and don't mess with it until I fill up again. You can also see how many MPG you get on a long trip, by just resetting it when you get on the highway. This is fun to see the difference you are getting while driving at a constant speed, rather than stop-n-go.

Since I have bought my MINI, the one thing that I truely wish I had included was the MFSW. I really miss my cruise button. The last thing that I wanted to buy was a "loaded Lincoln Navigator." Everyone has different tastes, and some feel that the MINI should be "bare bones". If you want to purchase a MINI like that, you are more than able to. I choose to have as many "extras" as I can afford and the cruise would make it much easier on the feet during my 80 minute drive to Motor City MINI.

That is exactly what I have been asking for the whole thread. I want a trip computer or whatever you guys want to call it!! I never fill up my tank the whole way (weight) and i want to get a rough estimate of my mileage. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF IT IS POSSIBLE to GET ONE INSTALLED as an AFTERMARKET OPTION!!?

I think it would be quite hard to get an aftermarket trip comp. because it has to tie into the fuel cell and other things, but I'm scouering the internet now to see if I can find one for you.

This is what I have found so far. It looks a bit funny but I think it could be painted and retrofitted into the area under the radio. Here is the link http://www.autospeed.com/cms/article...ons&A=0639

This is a cool little bonus too..

"Also included in the diagnostic mode are functions for measuring injector pulse width, a "sprint timer" suitable for measuring 0-400m times and displays of the total engine hours, running time and fuel used by the vehicle."

Do you really want to know how much fuel you are using? I thought that the point of having a Mini is to have a great drivers' car. If you start to worry about things like how much fuel you are using you're not driving it as it should be driven!
