Thanks1 The dash is not hard to take off.....You just have to be careful with the airbag part...and btw I thought you were selling your Mini, no?

Thanks! Ben (the guy I did it for) likes the contrasting silver and black....so he's going to keep the downtubes stock.... But I painted mine.....Thing is, I have the silver dash with black door panels. Have to do my dash next!

Yeah.. I like the Silver/black.. keeping the downtubes silver.. and the door panels I think I'll keep the center part silver, but paint the bucket and ring black to match the dash..... also want to keep the door handle/tweeter pod silver..

As far as at night? Its really cool b/c its so reflective..

it was starting to get dark out..

So did you use the spray can, or did you brush the paint on? I'm really wanting to do this. I've painted my dash, but need to re-do some parts that have scratched. Used a spray can from paintworldusa.com. I'm a little leery of spraying my door panels. I just know I'll overspray too much.

Spray can from www.paintscratch.com.

No brushing.

The way to prevent overspray is to take your panels off and cover them up with masking tape and paper.

Btw that site is no good.

Depends on how much of the door panel you plan on doing.

I painted my entire door panel black including the non-glossy parts...I think I used two cans to do that......+ 1 can of clearcoat for the glossy parts....

Now, I've just got to wait until it warms up a bit. Don't think I want to do this inside my apartment.

Hi Y'all..

I've been wanting a painted dash ever since I got my 03 MCS. I have the lovely "alloy" dash and it would be nice to have it a matching red.

I was excited when reading about similar efforts here, but when I spoke with a body shop, they were dubious. Their concern was that it would be a safety risk to have the cover to the airbag painted -- something about the chips flying off in an accident.

Thoughts?
