I'm getting vinyl roof graphics in 2 weeks, so I'm curious to hear others' replies, but no, I do not know. Sorry PPE. This just isn't a sexy enough thread on NAM today.

Hubby feels that the printed ones don't last as long as the ones that are simply cut from one color (like my stripes), but I would like to hear other thoughts.......

BTW: what kind of grapic are you getting?

I live in Birmingham, but five days a week I park in a garage out of the sun... Honestly, my whims change so much, I don't know how long I would want it to last, but the money..................

It's a secret. I will give the one hint that I'm pretty sure TSB will like it. I will post photos when it's finished.

Which is why I advised you to live with PPE for six months before adding more graphics, sweetie. The checkered bonnet stripes make quite a statement!

I have the UJ sunroof flag from Cooper Flags. It comes laminated however I have seen these fade after a couple years.

Besides replacing, spraying and rubbing in some 303 Aerospace protectant can help protect against UV fade.

I have a custom made Cooper Flags perforated sunroof graphic. I've seen a small amount of fade after nearly two years, and some very small "bubbles" due to the perforations. If the wear continues at this rate I'll probably have to replace the graphic within 18 months. Not bad, a three to four year life from the graphic; lots longer than a Dodge Neon's headlight cover lasts before going all milky and stuff.

I had Cooper Flags perforated graphic on my roof (sunroof) for around 18 months when it delaminated so bad that nearly all of the clear dots came out of the perforations leaving it looking so bad that I pulled the whole thing off. Looked great for a while but I was hoping for a little more in the way of longevity. I'm quite certain that the Carolina sun didn't help.

My perforated sunroof flag from CooperFlags lasted 6 months before it began showing signs of wear (little clear circles coming off of the perforated holes). After 9 months, I removed it because it was looking really tatty. . . .

PPE, you and I must have been sisters in a former life..

I'm so glad to hear that someone else out there is always thinking of the "next" cool thing to add. I think I have finally gotten a final dream scheme of my roof graphic and my MINI isn't even here yet. DH is asking about how long the roof graphics will last and I'm thinking to myself "well hopefully not TOO long "
I have a box full of stuff waiting in the garage and a file full of "ideas".
Have you seen the add for the "Chicken Little" movie? The one where the big pig is trying to put money in a vending machine and it won't work and he just loses it? My teenage son saw it this afternoon and said "Hey Mom, that's like you waiting for your MINI". He just cracks himself up
I can't wait to see what you come up with, but I do love what you've done so far!

A sister from a former life? How marvelous We will have to compare notes as things develop (as I have said before, if only money grew on trees, we could design MINIs for every day of the week)

I think I have a 3 year warranty on my graphics (covering warping and color
fading). I am thinking I may change the roof up before the 3 years. I don't think I'll ever change my stripes - I love them too much!!!! I was toying with doing the stripes in pink instead of whaite at one point though. It would be the total 80's girl car!

One of the upsides should be that you can change your graphics w/o having the roof sanded and painted everytime it fades. Custom paint can fade, chip, and bubble also if applied wrong but will cost a lot more to fix than vinyl. Just my .02

I'm thinking of a roof graphic for Little Blue... still trying to decide, but am heading in these directions...

1.

2.

3. (just the diamond sign)

I think I like #2 the best.
