My dealer didn't offer any clear paint protection (well, other than wax). I think the colored bras DO protect against stone chips, but IMO they're UGLY.
I've seen some websites that offer a clear 3M protectant that, supposedly, is easily removed come time to trade or sell the car and DOES protect against those dreaded stone chips. Not being knowledgeable enough to try installing the kits that are available, I'm wondering if anyone has had a professional installation. If so, what do you think of the results? Ballpark, how much did it cost? Please indicate what part of the country you're from. I'm in WV.
Yeah, I know there's a Stongard product, but it apparently isn't available yet for the MCS.
I'd sure appreciate the thoughts of the folks here on this topic.

My Black MC came with Autobahnd installed by Herb Chambers MINI in Boston (yes, that dealership!)
I am not very happy with it; certainly I have no stone chips on the front of the car (although there is one towards the back of the driver side wheel arch).
The main problem is that it shows - the covering has a different texture to the smooth paint, and there is a distinct line at the rear edge, made worse because it collects dust and wax when I wash my car.
Look carefully at this pic and you will see a line across the bonnet where the autobahnd ends. You cannot see the different texture, but it is noticeable in real life!
