You should post some photos of the "finished" product in the gallery

Got my Winter wheels on right now (old wheels with all season tires). I'll take some pics when I put the Summer wheels on.

OK, I'm actually toying with doing this. We have a PW/B MCS and I'm trying to imagine doing the beltline in the same red as the S in the MCS emblems. Any thoughts? Anybody done this and have photos?

Thanks.

You can try 1/2" red electrical tape to "test" the look. If you like it, then you can order the 3m.

So.. I was wondering if anyone who did thise would like to sell their leftover tape. I mean it's 150" and I doubt it takes anywhere near that to black out a MINI. Good way to recoup some cost.

I'll order a full roll if I have to but, ya know... worth a shot.

Ya'll sold me on the beltline thing.. despite having a BRG, I dislike chrome. (Yeah, got rid of the boot handle and front grilles..) But have one question - how well does the adhesive hold up? I mean, will it start flapping around after a hot humid day in the Southeast? I'd hate to do this, then find out that every day in August I have to circle the car and verify I don't have no flaps hanging off.

I started this thread over a year ago (10/3/05) and the beltline still looks as good as it did when I installed it!

I live in the southeast and with about year in mine still looks great.
Even if it starts to come off, it is inexpenive and easy to reapply.

I love that chrome strip, I think it's one of great details on the car. What are you people doing??

It establishes visual separation to the car for one and some don't like chrome for another. To each his own. One man's great detail is another's eyesore.

ok, so i see that everyone is doing the black out look...

how about the monotone look, meaning, on a pepper white, has anyone painted/vinyl covered the light rings in pepper white, the chrome grills in pepper white, etc...instead of contrast black?

i've seen side skirts done body color, why not headlight rings, grill trim, etc...?

That's being done; but primarily on the darker, sexier colors such as DS, JB, IB and AB

Looks GREAT

This looks GREAT!!!

How much do you think I'll need to do two MINI's?

Is there anybody in the San Fernado Valley (CALIF.) that sells this tape?

Yep. I think chrome looks better with some cars than with others. That's the great thing about these cars though, they are what WE want, not what we just happened to find on a car lot that looked exactly like the one next to it.

I blacked out the side grills a looooong time ago. Just didn't get around to the tape quite yet.

This is my car: (you can see why I would want the black)

Beltline should be blacked out very soon and I'll post pics then

15' is more than enough to do a car. I'm not sure exactly how much you'd need (and you should have some extra in case you make a mistake or want to redo a section).

See my first post. I bought my tape from Terry's online. It was around $17 for 150'. There are other folks here on NAM who are selling their extra left over tape, too.
