I know it's an old thread, but I just installed this mount from "Country Joy Crafts" (don't ask). It was designed for the Mini and works for both Bel/Passport and everyones beloved Valentine.

Yep!

LOL!!!!!

But I had to Google it further and found
http://www.countryjoycrafts.com/350Z/minimount.htm

Interesting mount--I don't like how visible it makes the detector though.

I agree with the visibility part. It does, however, place the detector in the near perfect place to do its job. Since it's hardwired (I still have to finish routing the wire), it's very easy to remove for storage.

It does look good though. =P

I noticed their site says it's metal and not plastic. Is the MINI logo hand painted or a sticker? Just curious. And why is it a part of Country Craft?? LOL.

It is metal and the Mini logo is engraved on the back (you can get it plain as well). Apparently her husband is a machinist and uses her site to sell these items. I was looking for a better alternative to the windshield mount and came across it.

That's interesting but it really looks like it blocks a good part of the view out the front, especially in the twisties.

I don't even notice it anymore. It is less obtrusive than mounting it on the windshield.

Could be. I have mine above the mirror on the right. Any place in the windshield seemed in my way when I was testing mounts.

Looks good. I did the same type of thing by mounting the remote display/mute switch in my parcel shelf.

Can i ask why there is a thread about radar detection, when NAM doesn't endorse illegal activity on the road i.e. speeding??

Radar Locating is also a popular hobby in it's own right. Just having a radar detector/locator does not mean you are speeding or intending to speed.

Awesome install of the remote display. Do you have a write-up of how you did this? Does the mute still work, did you re-solder the power plug or is it in the same position (pointing to the left)?

Thanks for any information you can share. I'm going to be hardwiring my V1 this weekend.
