How subtle?

British flag valve stem caps?
(that's about as subtle as you can get  )

I'd go for bonnet/roof/boot decals or side decals, but not sure on colors to go well with the BRG with black roof...

If you are after decals then please take a look at our stuff, we got all sorts that are a little bit different, and we do custom work to be totally unique We can also play around with the colors to make it suit BRG perfectly

minipirate.com

We are UK based, but shipping on a regular basis to the States and the rest of the World

How subtle is this, drop in a Cold Air Intake in and listen to the supercharger whine plus give you some more air.

No stickers, no flash and not that much dosh. Along with that most are very easy to install yourself in no time flat.

OK, not that subtle! I put the Pilo racing CAI in the month I got it! Problem is, I don't notice the whine now, so the next thing is the exhaust I guess!!

You could get clear bulbs for the front turn signals at www.powerbulbs.com

Or maybe get the side reflectors tints at www.mossmini.com or www.outmotoring.com

I dont know how much you like chrome but i think that if you got a chrome grill and chrome mirror caps it would look VERY classy with BRG

Well, you did say "subtle exterior changes" - I guess you could say that new tailpipes would be that

I think some black viper stripes, or other black stripes, etc would be subtle against the BRG yet still noticeable and sporty

Also, new wheels could make a low key but substantial visual change

I'm definitely thinking about a set of 17" Flik Wasps in Antracite and using my stock premium wheels for putting some snow tires on...

Seriously. I have the same car and I have some ideas.

1. I went to white wheels. I love the stock white R83's but I'm a cheapskate so I bought white ASA LW5's from Tire Rack for 109.00 each and they look cool. You'd be surprised how cool white R83's look on that car.

2. I think a white door handle protector cups would be the coolest way to balance the look of the car but can't find any and have no interest or skill in painting car stuff.

3. I have "Actual Size" stickers on each rear window.

Smoke bumper reflectors & sidemarker lenses w/ proper colored bulbs. Osram Silverstar bulbs for High (& Low if you have Xenons), fogs, and front turn signal. Cleans the car up nicely. Maximum legal tint to make the black roof & A/B/C Pillars match better. Aero Grill to bring it all together.

I thought about tints... and you confirmed my thoughts on them... any idea where I would go to get that done and cost on it?

Thanks...

Depends on where you are. I paid less that $100 for an absolutely perfect tint job, and I know of others who have paid $400 for garbage. Research the tint shops in your area, check out their work, see if they have a warranty of any type (mine has lifetime warranty against bubbles/cracking/etc), and make sure you can watch while they install.

Thanks to everyone that gave suggestions!

I am going to get the windosw tinted, and I worked with MiniPirate to come up with a great deecal design for the sides and back of the car. Once I get them on the car I'll take some pics. I'm also going to go for some gray wheels to complete the 'Stealth' look, and am also having new springs put on to lower it slightly (although this is more for handling in addition to a reat sway bar and control arms).

BRG is one tough color to work with. I have the white roof and wheels, and have been very reluctant to do very much. I think black bonnet stripes work much better with the black roof than do white stripes with the white roof. I'd like to think there is a custom stripe color that would look better than both, but so far I have yet to see the one that does it for me and still remains low key.

I put on MINI logo valve stem caps, replaced the antenna with an aluminum billet that is a bit shorter than stock, and got chrome covers for the antenna base and the windshield washers. I had an Alta pulley installed at the Dragon, so on one side window of the car I have a small silver Alta decal next to a silver Dragon/MINI decal. An Actual Size decal and a couple of window clings from MINI runs are in the other rear window.

I am about to put a Magritte painting on the sunroof. Not sure if it qualifies as low key, or not.
I've done some even more low key things to the interior, but you did not ask about that...

I already have the stubby antenna (still in black), and when I get the WIndows tinted, I'll go for putting a Helix stick on too - I'm really tempted towards 'The Dogs Bollocks' under the rear spoiler!!

The decals are going to be black to match up with the roof with a small red flash (the same as the S elsewhere in the car). I think it will look great! I'll post pictures once done.
