window tinting sun roof

Has anyone had any experience tinting the sunroof. If so what percent tinting did you use. I was told that a 20% tint keeps out 80% of the heat

I had a colorless reflective film on it, and it cooled off the car almost 60%. Amazing?

Very nice. It's probably a clear UV shielding. How much did it cost to get that fitted?

I used 5% on my sunroof. Its dark enough that when the sunroof is closed its really closed. Had it done when I tinted the rest of my car.

too hot?

I just had my windows tinted all the way around with 3M Scotchtint FX-HP with a metal coat. (the good stuff)
I asked the tint installer what the options for my sunroof were, they told me they stopped installing tint on sunroofs because they were getting too many coming back due to the excessive heat that the tint recieves on top.
It caused the tint to crack and peel.

I'd be curious if anyone from a sunny location has had their sunroof tint last for a while?

Sun Roof at 5%

I live in the Sacramento Valley (California), have had my tint for just over a year, no problems from heat / sun etc. 100 degree plus days is a fact of live here in the summer time.

I know several Hawaii MINI owners that had their sunroofs tinted using various films ( dyed, metal, and ceramic) over 2 years and seem to be holding up.

BTW, Hawaii only has one season..........tourist...... .
12 months of sun....

I have had my sunroof tinted for close to two years in Southern CA with no problems with it. I felt that the tint (Limo) let too much light in the car, so I recently put on a cooper Flags Union Jack on the Sunroof also, this really cut down on the sunlight coming in.
