Interior/Exterior Aftermarket Pedals??
Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on which aftermarket pedals are good. I would really like some of those that have the red inserts, but I want something that is good...not just showy. Any and input is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Holly,
There are new pedals on the 2003 Cooper S models that are similar to the dead pedal - metal with raised rubber areas. If I were going to do pedals I would get a set of those. The advantages being that they are factory fit and finish, have rubber to help prevent slipping in the wet (all metal pedals can be slipery), and they look nice.

Been thinking about a set of metal pedals and went snooping down in pedal land today.
VERY surprised to discover that the pedal arms are PLASTIC... I was wondering how repacement pedals with screws would attach. No real problem if the mounting base is plastic.....easy to drill wounting holes!!!
Won't say this is bad ... just surprised. On my Miata they're metal....

Yeah, the pedals are plasic. So are the ones on my Jetta.
One more thing to consider about aftermarket pedals: more than likely drilling is required. The old adage measure twice, cut once doesn't apply... it's more like measure 8-10 times, drill once.
Since the MINI pedals are from MINI I would expect an exact fit without drilling. I installed the pedals from an Audi TT in my Jetta, since they are built on the same platform (mk4). Anyhow, I just slipped off the Jetta rubbet pedals and slipped on the Audi TT pedals in their place. looked great.

I got the Aluminum Pedal from MINIMania.com
Yes, you have to use a drill.
The Clutch and Brake pedals are larger which helps with this heel/toe technique people talk about. I'm practicing it whenever I can. One day I will get it down.
They're grippy even when wet and the accelerator says MINI on it. I sure wish my MINI came with the new standard pedals just so they match the dead pedal, but I do like that mine are larger and look very good too.
MossMINI.com has a nice selection also. I would consider their "S" Pedals or just buy the factory pedals from my dealer in the future.

The best ones I have seen to date are made by SRP and are sold in a set of 3 and made out of aluminum that does not bed. They must be drilled into your existing pedals (rubber covers removed) and come in two flavors: "Mini" and "S"
We have used this same manufacturer in the Miata community with rave reviews.

RSpeed mini pedals and Rspeed 'S' pedals.

I have a 2003 MCS, but I just have the rubber pedal covers like I've seen on other Coopers and S's. Are the other ones some kind of option or just from a later build date? Those pedals sounds great!

I was comparing prices at Crutchfield.com the other day and noticed pedals (and ***** and stuff) from a couple of manufacturers that were red and had rubbery inserts - they showed up after I input 'MINI' as car-type so they think they should fit ...
Was told my MINIUSA that they WERE NOT going to offer the new matching dead pedals as a after market accessory..Have every write MINIUSA to "help" them change their mind,,,and at a reasonable cost too!!...

i love those new factory pedals and am not too fond of the old style stock ones ... especially since my rubber clutch slip-on came off last week. hopefully, if miniusa won't offer them, some sponsors here will

One of the first things I bought was a set of Ralley Pedal Pads from Finish Line, Inc. (cobraaccessories.com). They are thicker than the others, appear to be CNC cut out of aluminium with a "sereated"(sp?) very high grip surface. At $115 for the set they are significantly more expensive than the others but offer extremely high grip with wet or snowy feet and provide a very much improved feel. Well worth the couple of extra bucks. You do have to drill the pedals but this is relatively easy and the fit is excellent. And they look much more serious! (:

MINI does not seem concerned with the aftermarket at this time. Thank goodness for MCO sponsors and other MINI aftermarket companies.
