tinted tails

How have you guys tinted your tails and side markers? What is the best way to go? Has anybody used that spray called "Nightshades"? If you have, where did you get it?

Has anybody used anything like this? --> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...967841267&rd=1

whatever you do, dont buy GTS covers....

i got a set and they were nowhere near the correct fit, they looked badly warped...

i'm getting smoke fils in here within the next week or two (had to send back the covers) i'll post some pics when i get everything.

i just pulled the bulbs out of the side markers and painted the whole lense in a matte black textured paint and they blend in nicely with the fenders.

I got the side markers from Moss-mini.com and the taillight film from another NAM user. He bought it from mini mania i think.

J.

Do you get hassled for those taillight covers? I just received a set from Bimmian, but I haven't put them on yet. Has anyone else bought theirs from Bimmian?

jcampos and zakdog...

the tint film u guys got, was it just a big sheet of tint you had to perfectly cut to size, or were they already pre-made to fit? If you had to cut it, was it hard?

This kind sounds like it is pre-sized pieces...

Also I am thinking about yellow tinting the foglights because I have seen this on several different cars and I think it looks good. Makes it look like the IS300 lights with the blue projectors and yellow foglights.

They are pre cut but you still need to be carefull doing it . Just take your time and it will come out fine. I have had mine on for about 2.5 years with no problems . I do have the brake light mod that JC referred to as you do lose some illumination with the film.

If you don't want to use the film tint you can have the tint put on permanently, professionally. I used to patrol the Passat forums daily and I met a guy through there who does amazing work with tinting lights. He's getting popular in the northeast by going to car shows and such. Also, a VW Beetle he did was recently in Eurotuner Magazine and the owner dropped his name so that people would know about him. You can check out his website:

http://www.jonstintedtails.com

I'll eventually get around to sending him my tails to tint.

I purchased my film before I even took delivery of the car. I am thinking about selling and installing this vinyl in Vegas for AMVIV III.
