Rear seat removal help please..
Did a search but the found threads are so old that the photos do not exist any longer and the written details were lacking.
I just need a few tips on how to remove the seat backs, as I already know how to remove the bottoms. Just want to be able to remove them for track days.
Thanks!

I've done this before, and it's not very hard to do. I'm not sure how well I can describe the process, but I'll give it a try.
First, fold the seats forward. I'd leave the bottom cushion in, so the backs are laying flat. If you look between the left and right back at the bottom, there's a metal clip. Some of them have a screw holding the clip in place (mine didn't). Take out the screw if it's there. Using a long screwdriver, push the clip forward. Then lift both seat backs out of the clip. Once you've lifted the center, then pull each back out of the slots on the sides of the car.
I don't have any pictures to post, but I hope this helps.

yes you need to remove the bolt in the center holding the two seats together. then lay the right side down and remove the left side first. it is easier this way. when removing you need to kind of wiggle the seat backa nd forth while pulling it out. the reason for this is becasue the seat has two tabs i guess you can say. and the peice the are in has matching slots for these tabs. so the point of wiggling is to get the tabs to find those slots and it will just pop out. doesn't take much effort or work, but once you get the first side out you will see what i mean.
hope this help s and doesn't confuse you any more. any questions just ask. as mine have been out for over 2 years now and i just installed a false floor since there is no room for people back there any ways.

I made 300 bucks selling mine to a guy in NY shortly after I got my MCS. MINI2 has a DIY on it somewhere, and while this is not it per se, there is good info (near the bottom):

With a plate over the void, it can look pretty nice, while adding much practicality:

Lift the seat back to approx. a 45 degree angle, and then pull it away gently from the side of the car while varying the angle from around 30-70 degrees.
The seat is held in place with a T shaped axle. The arms of the T have to line up with the holes in the washer on the side of the car before it will come out.
It's tricky at first, but gets easier every time you do it
