Tips for installing aero side skirts

I've already read the official MINI instructions, but I'm wondering if there are any little tricks that you do-it yourselfers have found. I understand that you can end up with a gap somewhere toward the end of the skirt if not fitted properly.
I'll probably be doing the project on Sunday, so any help is appreciated!

Well its good to have an extra person with you....duh right...heh he..also don't take off the double sided sticky tape till you are getting ready to put that on...oh and when you are pushing in the clips, you don't need to hit them into place...just press with your weight in those spots and they should click in nicely...

the only tip i can give is, before you stick the tape down, move the skirt side to side a bit to make sure it is in place and you do not get a gap in the back where it meets the door frame. other than that, it is a really straight forward easy project. good luck! post photos when your done!!

Help

I installed the right side aero side skirt yesterday and I'm a bit puzzled with the fit underneath the skirt. When you remove the original skirt, you have ~ 7 phillips head plastic expandable clips that secure the bottom of the skirt to the chassis. When I installed the new aero kit, there are holes in the smae location however you can not install them because there is approximatly an inch or so gap between the two surfaces. Reading the offical instructions does not mention to reinstall them however the entire bottom of the kit is fairly flimsy and needs to be secured. Has anybody installed them with the same results? Did I do something wrong to not match up the holes better?

Did you attach the side skirt mounting piece to the painted side skirt first? If you did, it should line up in the same spots the original skirt did.

Yeah, you have clipped the secondary long plastic piece on the wrong sides. I did the same thing. I haven't fixed it yet, probably won't for a while. It's going to be a pain in the butt to fix. Will most likely need new clips all around! But for now, the skirts seem to be on there pretty good.

Side Skirt install

I don't see how I clipped the wrong sides together since I have not even opened up the left side skirt box. I'm going to take some pictures tonight and of both the one installed and the new one not installed and we'll go from there.

Found the Problem

After I opened the other box with the left side skirt in it, I assembled it and realized that the right side that I was complaining about was using the left side skirt monutings part #15 instead of a right side piece. I'm going to go back to the dealer and show them what I have and get them to get me the correct piece along with some new clips.

Lesson #1 check to make sure you have all the correct labled pieces. Each side will have a bag of clips, the new side skirt, small plastic grill for the scoop in the rear of the skirt and the correct side skirt mounting depending on which side you are installing.
