I called Classic Auto Campus to order a set of clear tail lights told I also had to have the "install kit" for an additional $100. Anyone know what this consist of? I know about the need for red reflectors on the cars rear end. I thought these clear lights were just simple plug and play. Any advice?
Thanks.

MCS 03 PS/PS Ms Kensington is here, delivered tuesday Oh behave!

I really don't think the cops will hound you too much on this issue, and if they do, you can always play dumb. "Gee occifer, ah didnae know! 'Ave mercy, sha!"

But, keep in mind, with no reflectors, your car will be hard to see while parked on the side of the road at night.... CRUNCH!

The clear lights do reflect, just not in red. You see a white outline of the tailights.

Not sure about this but from what I understand the kit is not needed. What it does is make the rear fog lamp, the one on the top, light when the brake light is on. The reflectors are not in the kit they are extra.

I did buy the clear taillight assembly and the install kit from my dealer. The light kit includes the three rear lights which are easy to replace, just unscrew/unbolt the old ones and plug in and rescrew/rebolt the new. The install just was supposed to be nothing more than a set of reflectors for the rear bumper, but when I opend the box they were wiring harnesses for a BMW 5 series in the box along with the hole drilling templates for the reflectors. I returned them to the dealer and got a refund. I never installed the reflectors and have driven 26,000 miles thus far and have not had a problem with the police.
