I just installed my PIAA driving light kit I got from MINI-Madness. One problem though, is the lights vibrate like crazy. If I was epilectic I would already have had a seizure. Has anybody else had this problem? I think maybe the PIAA lights are too heavy for the factory brackets. Do the factory lights vibrate too? Any input appreciated, it's getting dark in here.

Mardav: I'm going to move this over to Interior / Exterior mods. I'll also send a link to RandyBMC. I know MINI Motorsport carries the PIAA lights, so he may have some thoughts too.

Mardav,

Have you installed the additional adjuster screw with the plastic cover that blind nut rivets into the grill? This is part of the factory kit, and stabilizes the lights. Let me know if you have, and I'll do some other trouble shooting.

Mardav,
What did they say? I was about to order the lights when I saw this post. I want to make sure the additional adjuster screw is included.

Technomage,

I sell this kit, and it does include those pieces. The mounting kit comes straight from MINI, so it probably was missing those pieces from them. The kit comes sealed, but after hearing that they didn't include the adjusters in a kit from another vendor, I'll be opening and checking each kit I send.

I'll post a pic tomorrow. I called George at MINI-Madness and he told me that the adjusters MINI supplies in the kit look terrible on the car and are a crappy design so he removes them before shipping the lights. What he has done is have a new bracket made that mounts just the same as the factory bracket but is much thicker and doesn't vibrate. He will send replacement brackets out to everyone who purchased a kit from MINI-Madness and will put the new brackets in all future kits, but I think he said another 10 days or two weeks untill they were out of production. I like this solution better than drilling holes in the grill for the factory support. BTW I called my dealer and he said that they don't use the extra support when putting the factory lights on at the dealer because it is hard to install just right and it looks crummy to them also. ops:

I talked to George, and will be carrying the "new and improved" brackets as well.

I have the supports on my driving lights, and really don't think they look that bad. You drill a small hole in the black plastic behind the grill, so even if you remove them, you really can't see the hole drilled. That said, I am waiting to see the redesign. If it works, that's what will be supplied with the kit.

I still have them available at $374.

The website will be up within a week. Keep an eye out here on MCO! Until then, I am still taking orders, just give me a call.
