Interior/Exterior Thoughts on Ceramic Coating?
Thoughts on Ceramic Coating?
Hey folks,
I am strongly considering getting a ceramic coating on my F54 but wanted to hear about user experiences here...just wondering about results over time and the upkeep. I have read up on it quite a bit but am curious for those who made the purchase, was it worth the cost?
Thanks

I'm a fan of the ceramic coatings... I've noticed that I can do a simple rinse or a foam-cannon and rinse and 98% of all dirt just washes off. Even that Sticky sooty stuff on the back hatch/bumper.
The glass and trim are ceramic sealed as well.
There are some really high end ceramics that last a LOOONG time... but for the money... and the huge amount of research that I've done... the Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light and the EVO-V4 combo will give you years of service and you can do it yourself... it's very forgiving... But you have to have super clean paint and glass to lay it down... minimum of a full detail... and, at a minimum ... full clay bar of the paint... often you will need to have paint-correction buffing done as well.
Spray-on SiO2 or 'ceramic' waxes are, Meh-OK... but won't last and are not true ceramics... I've tried the Adams, F11, Mguiars and NexGen...
The best of that bunch was the NexGen IMO... it lasted a full year before needing to be done again, the F11 gave me the least favorable results.
The PPF on my R56 is also Ceramic coated.... Really helps with water and dirt shedding too from the PPF that doesn't happen with uncoated Xpel.
There are lots of great sources on Youtube etc... Chicago Auto Pros is a pretty good watch.
