I installed My Sparco Milano (Pictures)

this weekend . It sure is a tight fit in the car and around my butt . I'm not large by any stretch of the imagination (170 lbs - 35" waist) and the seat is just snug around the hips. I found a 3.3 OHM 2 watt resistor with wire that was a perfect fit for the airbag connector - I didn't need to solder on 20 gauge wire. it's made by NTE Electronics (www.nteinc.com)and the part number is 2W3D3. I was concerned about tripping the SRS light but that was unfounded.
The Sparco Milano Prestige is a great seat. The only gripe I have about the quality is the plastic ***** that adjust the rake angle. Other than that the quality is superb.

I couldn't fit very well in the Spraco Milanos either. (Wonderful seat, by the way.) A word of advice to anyone who is considering an after-market seat: Sit in one for a good deal of time before you buy! I know sometimes that is hard to do and you end up relying on the measurements (yours and the seat's). Luckily, I live near Sube Sports and they are dealers for both Sparco and Cobra. The only seat that I really felt good in was the Cobra Daytona. So, I had those made in custom black/silver leather. The Cobras are way better than the original sport seats in my coupe and the sport seats in my convertible.

I've had the Milano's in Alcantra in my rig for a year or so and love them. the plastic hole trim broke on four of the four though. simply turning around to reach something in the back seat and letting my shoulder press against the plas was enough. punky parts; sparco dealers know about the problem and can send you more eggshells

Ah...the ever popular shift boot They were a part for the Tiburon 5 speed but I've been informed by many who asked that my source no longer carries them. They're supposidly discontinued Still, others manage to find them occasionally on Ebay. At this time, I don't know where to get one. Sorry.

I got the black Prestige like yours. I wll post pick as soon as I can. I didn't splurge for the passenger seat for two reasons. One: is cost. At $1300 they are not cheap and I rarely carry a passenger. Two: the airbag issue. I don't mind not having an airbag but I am concerned that my passenger wouldn't have one and that may not be their choice.
As for looks MSFITOY yours look great - mine looks - well a little unbalanced. It definitely looks better with two. BTW where do you attach your 5 point harness?

He uses the schroth harnesses which are only 4 point. They attach in completely stock locations and are dot approved

I love the look of those seats and at 5'10" 160lb. I'm sure I would fit comfortably and I can even deal with the airbag issue but man I love my heated seats. (I'm getting old) I am thinking of gray marketing some JCWs , which are the same from what I can tell because I think you can get the heaters. Does anyone know for sure?

Why does the eBay ad say it's for a 6 speed Cooper S?? How does a 5 speed Cooper gear boot differ from an MCS???

Thats one of the funny things about ebay....in all honesty, you could make it even work on the CVT cooper(may get a little indented but it would work )

I contacted the US branch of coolnew.com (an English MINI aftermarket parts house) their email address is kenc@rallyperformance.com . They will sell you the JCW seat for around $1300. But the rub is that you pay the shipping. Here's what they said in an email
'I talked with the guys over in the UK again today with regards to the JCW seats. The JCW seats actually use the stock slides ...... and come with instructions and parts to adapt the new seat to the old slider. Shipping would be direct from the UK to you and would run 550 pounds UK which is roughly (at today's exchange rate) $1,050. They did actually have a customer from the US who did purchase a set of JCW seats from them. They also said that the shipping costs (as can be seen above) were, well painfull to say the least.'
Painfull??? Ouch that hurts.

LOL...someone put my idea to work for them Good for them. Good price too. Though their images shows they didn't put it on very well (if it is the same part).

Theirs:

Mine:

I don't believe there are any difference between the five and six speed. The seller may have confused the fact the original Tiburon boot is intended for "their" 5-speed, and not "their" 6-speed.

BMW can get rid of the Airbag light by uploading something to the ECU (that is how they do it in Europe). It would be cool to get the seats from coolnew and find a dealership who would be willing to turn off the airbag light.

I noticed that--yours looked much taller and better looking IMO. I'm very tempted to go this route.

You have to pay for that though...may as well just do the resistor trick. Resistors are less then a dollar and do the same thing as the dealer would

Is that shipping per seat? Or per set? Not that it really matters!
