My new hybrid iPod holder

I never really liked the Belkin TuneDok I was using to hold my iPod and, since the dealer broke the cup holder part of my Mini-Fini cupholder, I merged parts of both together to create this...

Here's the writeup:

Edit: yes, the dealer did replace my cupholder. They gave me one of the new ones.

Great idea. Is it possible to just mount the cup holder on the driver's side so the iPod is even closer or does it hit your leg? That way, you could still have a cup holder in the original spot. Just curious.

Yeah, I could move it but then I couldn't see it. It is just great where it is.

Very creative

I like your new setup. Very creative. I also had the Belkin holder. One thing I do not like it is I have to use 2 hands to remove the plug. So I used a small piece of acrylic and made the hold to secure the plug. After that modification, I can easily slide in and out of the iPod.

Thank. First, I measured the bottom of the holder and the plug. Then I used Dremel cut the hold and slowly sand the hole to fit the plug. Sand the hole to fit the plug was the most tricky part. It is much easier to make the hole before cut the acrylic to the right size. It took me few times to get it right. After fit everything, I used the acrylic cement to glue it to the bottom of the holder.

I like the AZMINI solution with the MINI Cup Holder with Belkin holder. Since I did not have the MINI Cup holder. So I created another solution with ProClip.

It was fun for me to make those little things for MINI and iPod.

Good Job! I have been eying my MiniFini cup holder and considering doing the same thing for quite some time. My plan also involved drilling a small hole and putting a rubber grommet in the shelf brace so that I can run the wires through it for a clean stock look.
