driving light switch in euro shelf ?

I was installing the Euro Shelf today and had assumed the switch just fit the hole in the shelf. My hole is too big for the switch. Any one else have this problem and what did you do? I have the little cover and could cut the switch hole into it. Has anyone done this? Thanks

Just wrap some electrical tape around it, make the fit more snug. I noticed the same thing - but its still easier than cutting a hole in the knee bolster. I install driving lights for people, but insist that they buy euro shelves if they want me to do it. Take me to dinner and I call it even - saves them a lot of money in dealer installations!

Maybe I have a different switch, Mine is way too small for the opening. I put a picture in the MY Gallery & I will try to put it here. It show how big the hole is for the switch. I thought the Euro shelf had a perfect hole for the factory switch. Let me know if anyone has any ideas. Thanks

Actually, the hole in the Euroshelf is sized to fit a headlight aiming control something we dont get as an option in the US), rather than the driving light switch. I managed to fit my driving light switch successfully by spreading the metallocking tabs a bit to 'catch' the edge of the opening. I misplaced the blank plug that I had gotten for the shelf, I intended to doctor it up as a form of adaptor to fit the light switch into the shelf a bit better. Since I apparently lost it, that idea had to be tossed until I get another plug. Which hasnt happened yet.

I think JoeDentist did put a Radio Shack red switch. He wrote a terrific menu and photos of his driving light install. Give him a PM he is a very straight shooter and will be very helpful. He also dids a remote install of his driving lights. Using a remote button to turn off and on.

I did like Greatbear and bent the tabs out slightly. But then I used my wife's hot glue gun and shot a little around the switch. It isn't going anywhere .

Greeting to all from Nevada,

Can anyone tell me where to find the Euroshelf you are talkiing about? I have my driving lights installed save for the final + wire connection and the switch installation. I don't like the look or location that the factory uses for the switch. And I'd like a bit more storage room in the car anyway. Many thanks.........................mgg

Classic Auto Campus is where I got mine. Ask for Brian and tell him your a member of NAM. You will get a discount. My shelf came to $75.00 and that included shipping. They have great Deals on all oem parts. There phone number is 1-440-205-6404.

Hi Gomez.

I also got my parcel shelf from Brian at Classic Auto Campus (though if you join the Sin City MINI Club http://www.sincityminiclub.com you get a discount card for Desert MINI) for about $60. If you get one and want to meet up somewhere, I'll even help you install it.

As for the orignal question, I did the same as was mentioned earlier, spread the holding clips a bit, and haven't had a problem since.

Well, not all the events are "Las Vegas" per se. And I'm in Paradise, myself. Saturday we left from the Belz outlet mall on a drive to Death Valley. Was fun. And we're doing another Hoover Dam run soon. Check out the events page on the website for details. Hope to see you at an event soon.

follow up

Guys,
I got the Euro shelf and as you said installation was a snap (or two). Now that I have the correct place for the rally light switch I'm out of excuses and I have to finish wiring them up (what a pain). Thanks to all for the advice and help.............................mgg
