Additional after market gauge cluster

Hello all:

I want to resurrect an old topic. I have read and read on adding an oil pressure gauge to my Coop; but, every thread seems years old. After an oil leak scare, I decided that I really need an oil pressure gauge. I also wouldn't mind coolant temp. gauge. I have seen the gauges that mount under the switches in the console, but don't like the location. I have the speedo and tach on my steering column. So any suggestions on location? I like the idea of them being on the pillar, but worry about the airbag. Also, are there a set of gauges that just plug into the computer slot, instead running and splicing a bunch of wires. Thoughts?

Thanks

I've seen gauges on the steering column next to the dual gauges and also using the NAV display. I like the NAV display, but the interface module is expensive and hard to find.

If I go with regular gauges it'll be the Marshall on the steering column.

Fantastic. Thank you. Love the NAV display. I'll have to get one.

This video is the only info I've really found on this mod. Click "show more" in the description for his notes and parts list.

I forgot about those! Yes, check out the scangauge2... quick and easy install with lots of functions including digital gauges, performance monitoring, trip computer, code scanning, and error light resetting.

I looked up the Scangauge2. Nice piece of electronics. It does not do oil pressure. The NAV update looks good, but I can't tell by looking at it on my phone, if it shows oil pressure. Is there already a pressure sensor on the the car, or just a set pressure switch?

There is just a switch, no pressure sensor.

Yeah I didn't think of that right away. Pretty sure a mini just has a switch not an actual sensor. The only way to add a pressure readout will be a stand alone gauge with a t fitting to a pressure sensor.
