yay, got my boot and boot and stubby.

Got my www.Outmotoring.com shift and brake leather boot kit and
Alta stubby antenna this morning. Thanks Outmotoring!!!

Still(!) waiting for my Whalen shift ****...Doug's too busy these
days. He won't be back in the shop until next week to do my
order. Shucks...

Anyone have personal recommendations on a ball-type Momo shiftknob
that is weighted? I think Im going to buy one locally anyway and after
I get the Whalen, use the Momo on my WRX since the one on that
car (GREX) is pretty worn out from long time use.

I know there's been threads on shift *****...just trying to pass time so that
my waiting for the Whalen is shorter. Thanks for any suggestions.

What's good about the Whalen? It's heavy, fits great on the MINI, can be custom engraved with your logo or name plus a shift pattern and you'll love it. Downside is the "wait" and the price.

Momo ***** are easier to find, come in various styles (round, anatomic), various heights (tall vs short), weights (heavy vs fairly light for short anatomic), and with many finishes and colors. Prices vary from $60 to $120+.
Fit on the MINI isn't quite as good using a rubber sleeve and pressure fit, the small screw might not be accessible to tighten depending on your shifter height (due to short shift kit).

Cool. I also just installed some shift and e-brake boots from redlinegoods.com. The Whalen will probably be a Christmas gift so I'll be waiting a bit longer than you . Here's what the boots look like: http://homepage.mac.com/kapps/MINI/PhotoAlbum9.html

kapps- that looks great! Im kind of a more quiet and conservative
type, so just got some charcoal ones to match the stereo and hvac matt
black finish. Im probably going to go by the local speedshop tonight to
pickup a Momo **** (Thank you, minihuni for the info).

If anyone has specific model number or picture(s) of their momo ****
that you'd recommend, please post them. I am looking for one with some
weight in them and spherical.

I currently use the factory shifter and no short-shift adapters.

Just picked up a Momo aluminum polished one locally.

It has the MOMO emblem printed on the top of the sphere so no worries
about the small emblem falling off like on their other air leather types.

Im going to use a zip tie to hold the boot up.

Gonna do the boots and **** tonight.

thats a pretty sweet ****..

did you install the stubby yet? just wondering if reception is the same or, god-forbid, worse that what it was. I see that it looks similar to the S2k stubby. its just a twist of type deal with the antenna correct?

i use a mania stubby and reception is probably even better than stock.. which was REALLY suprising considering the mania stubby is like... the size of my pinky!

i also got leather boot and ebrake boot from redlinegoods.com.. what stitching did you end up getting.. my silver stitching doesn't show up too well on the shift boot but nice and subtle..i like the feel of the leather.. it feels so high class

btw, i use a momo race air leather/aluminum one... nice and light, but is getting slippery!

Installed the Outmotoring charcoal color leather boots (shift **** and e-brake)

and the MOMO **** I bought today. I also cancelled the Whalen order
because the MOMO setup is pretty much what I wanted. It is slightly taller
than stock, but the weight helps it enter the gates much smoothly than
stock. So much more enjoyable to drive than the stock ****.

What do you think?

hehehe, I forgot to test the radio tonite! It's installed and it
makes the car look so much cleaner. I found out that the MINI's factory
antenna is the SAME as my beater 03 corolla I kick around the mall and
grocery parking lot. How embarrasing is that?! jk

Do the 2005 MINIs have a different antenna than past models? I am thinking of ordering a s2k antenna right now because I am so impatient! Or should I wait until I actually get the car first.

I like the Air Race Leather (also from Outmotoring). Its a little smaller than stock, but it looks good with the Redline shift boot. Now I just need to get a matching Momo ebrake handle and a non-rainy day to install my Alta intake and life will be good.

(Hurricane) Charley is causing problems for (MINI) Charlie.

storm180- The polished sphere I have (pict above) is the same size and a tad
heavier than the air race leather when I tried it at the local shop. The ****
feels great...took it out for a drive this morning and wow the gates are so
smooth now. I think the Whalen might be too heavy for the stock lever.

2percooper- I tried out the radio with the stubby. I think the reception is
BETTER than the factory antenna! For $29 shipped, its worth every penny.

2perCooper,

It sure does look like a S2k antenna. I bought it for $14.95 plus 3.95 shipping from a east coast honda dealer.

i love my race air too... black leather and silver brushed below.. matches the interior nicely, although it is slippery for some reason...

My buddy with a modded Evo8 stopped by today and we were comparing
our antennas..he has the S2000 one. His is a lot thicker (boulder) looking.
I think its just a preferance thing.

storm180 - yes, I want a matching e-brake handle too down the road.
