Dealer Illuminated Door Sill Stip-Retro Kit

Greetings!

Has anyone done this option from the dealer? If so, what do you think of it and how much did it cost? They want to charge for the "S" $335.00 plus labor of about $250.00. What are your thoughts?

Thanks

This is news to me regarding the MINI. Is this a la Mercedes-Benz, etc.?

Ouch on the price - is this something that's really needed for your show-circuit?

Illuminated Sills

No kidding. When I went to order the S Convertible the dealer brought out their standard dealer option brochure and the sills were in it. They have the Mini Cooper Name that lights up in blue and the S lights up in red.

It is cool, but not worth the bucks!

Any pix available somewhere? Really curious about it, but the price is a bit much.

Why don't you just wire up a stip of 9" neon next to the seats and wire it up to the dome light? $50 or so and about 2 hours install time.

Those lights never really fasinated me.

Light Up Sills

I have to say that I am a little embarrassed that I went for this option. It was too much money and although they are very cool at night, how often do you get to show people that your door sills are lit up?

Cool but too expensive - that's the opinion of someone who did it through the dealer.

There, I guess I've come face to face with my embarrassment about getting them.

Don't be embarassed! People do all sorts of things that are just for looks and/or to be different from others - for example body kits, the driving lights (when people really do not have a need to use them much), non-light wheels, decals, etc etc etc - nothing wrong with the lit door sills if it makes you smile when you open the car door at night I think they are fun and kewl

I like them also, But for me they will be a down the line modification. I had to stay in a budget when specing out MIB. I will do the install myself. According to motoringfile, you don't have to go the chassis computer to have the MINI recognise them.

I love mine! I don't regret any part of the $5XX the dealer charged. Everyone who sees my car at night loves them!
