Wheel question. Size, offset, tire size. Please help me out

I am looking to purchase another set of wheels for my car. Mainly as a show set. My car is currently on 18x7s with 215-35-18 tires and a 40 offset. They are tucked pretty good with my coilovers. I am looking at going to a smaller wheel with a wider stance. I found some 17x9s with a +20 offset that I like, but am unsure if I can fit them without modifying the fenders. I dont want to go to something to small because the roads suck in PA and I dont want to be completely slammed. so my main questions are;
Can I fit the wheels I found?
What is a good size tire to put on? I would like to stretch them
What size wheel/tire would you recommend
Any suggestions for wheel types? I like a nice lip on my wheels. Always interested in seeing what styles everyone is into.
Anything else you feel worth noting

Thanks in advance. You guys are the best!!!

2" inch wider wheel will stick out 1" more. 20mm less offset will make the wheel stick out another 3/4". Can't help with your other questions.

The et20 offset will poke a bit on the 17x9's. You will have to do some tire stretch and a more aggressive camber set up to make them fit. I think 225/45/17 will stretch safely. I know there is an R56 owner who put 17x9.75 et25 in the rear and runs a 215/40 but that stretch looks unsafe to me. Here is the link:

Thanks Solskjaer!!! Not sure I want to do a super aggressive camber. Might have to see if I can find something a little skinnier. Do you think a 16" wheel is to small? I found the same wheel in a 16x8, but like I said in my post, I dont want to have to go to low to keep a good fitment.

I am currently running 17x8.25 et 25 and I am poking a bit in the front. not much poke in the rear but I am running -2.8 camber in the rear. However I hit a bump last night and dropped on the rear tire enough to take a chunk out of the sidewall.

This guy is running 17x8.25 et25 as well. His tires are 235/40. XXR's are a nice wheel for the price too:

Here is a link for those wheels:

They all look really good. I just dont know if I want to go with that aggressive of a camber. going to have to think on this one for a while. I did find the same style wheel in a 17x8. Would I want a mid or low offset?

Smaller wheel or smaller tire you don't want to go with? A smaller wheel would help on bad roads as there is more tire sidewall and less chance of bent rims.
