Now I love my leatherette as much as the next guy, but there is one problem I face every single day. Sweat (from me)! Now I am a skinny dude that bairely sweats while running several miles, but whenever I sit in my car, I always sweat. This never happens in our other car(VW passat) with real leather. Is this because the leatherette doesnt breath? And how can i fix it? I am willing the reapolster (yes its thats annoying). Any suggestion is welcome! I was thinking about getting the leather with those little holes in them. Anyone tried or had experiance with this?

I have found sweating to be minimal compared to other cars I have had with real leather.

I haven't had a problem either in the 2 years I've had my car.

But HEY, I'm in Minnesota. It was 45 degrees F a few days ago

My motoring advisor (...here in Texas) noticed the same thing...leatherette got sweaty. I suspect it has to do with personal thermostats and maybe a few other climate-type factors. Since its not a universal problem, I guess solutions are pretty individual. I got cloth (...on my MA's recommendation) and have had no problems at all, but I think some NAMers have. Again...it'd vary from person to person. Hope you find a solution!

I am in the exact same situation...
not a big sweat person, but with leatherette... i sweat a lot when it is hot on contact with the seat.

the only thing I've found is putting my seat further back to minimize contact between my seat and back

doesnt work for long trips or spirited driving.. but to/from work is ok

Yea I live in texas, and dont have heated seats or climate control, just base manual a/c etc. The sheep skin wouldnt look all to good in my opinion. I was wondering if there where like really tight fitting covers(as to not ruin the look) that breath or something of that nature.

I got the mini OEM sheepskin seat vests in black. Solves the problem perfectly and makes my MINI much more inviting. I can tell they are going to be just the ticket in the winter too. They are also available in black and white checkerboard pattern that goes with the roof decal.

i too get some lower back sweatting while driving in warmer weather.
I don't use the AC at all unless my wife comes along or it's raining.

Im planning to get some Recaro's though probably next year.
I want to swapout my steering wheel too.

The one MCS I test drove had the leatherette and I felt like I was sticking to it (was about a 90 degree day), when I left in my Vette with the top OFF which had leather seats, very little sweat...

So I ended up with Lapis leather, time shall tell if it was the right choice...

Didn't have a sweating problem in my leatherette last summer. FYI - the leatherette supposedly has 360 microscopic holes per square inch for breathing.

This thread surprises me since I have leatherette and don't have that problem. I'm the sort of guy who sweats just thinking about it, so my theory.

It's been verified by several that they don't tend to sweat much but do with this leatherette. I am normally a heavy sweater but don't riding in my MC. So, there is some sort of reverse effect going on. Perhaps the well ventilated leatherette was designed with sweaty schmos like me in mind and not for the "no sweat" crowd. Or maybe some sinister prep person did wire the seat heaters to be on permanently. Barring those explanations I am stumped. I love my leatherette and sorry it's having the effect on some.

I sweat on any kind of seat - leather, leatherette (warm... leatherette... anyone else remember that song?), or cloth... sheepskin makes it completely unbearable for me. Sweating is a natural thing... shrug.

The only solution I found was hosing down Wet Okole seat covers with water in a Jeep and driving shirtless... not gonna work in a MINI.

The reason is, I live in texas(therefore didnt get the seat heaters) so it is ten times hotter. And I live in Houston, so that again multiplies the sweat factor by 10. Good thing ill be moving in a year or so.
