Interior/Exterior Opinions on CHROME interior?
I'm considering of adding some chrome interior pieces to brighten up the interior a bit.
Since there're so many different pieces, I'm not sure which one I like.
Suggestions? Photos would be great!

Chrome interior trim will be a dealer option in '05. Maybe they can retrofit it to an '04?
To quote from Motoring File, "(345) Chrome Line Interior: Chromed rings around all gauges, bezels around the hazard light button & dash light dimmer, inserts on the hand-brake, and rings around the gearshift and rear cup holders (as seen in Cabrio press photos)"

From the photos, the 05 OEM chrome looks different than the aftermarket ones. The OEM chrome covers the entire silver area, where as aftermarket one is just a ring.

>>Get the toggle switch covers, and the "three rings" (Tach, Speedo and Shifter) to start. Chrome IMO is the one thing the MINI interior lacks as part of its 1950s-1960s appeal.
That's exactly what I have in mind - the trio and the switches.

I like the idea of doing the bars between the switches and the three rings.
I think the important thing is not to add TOO much chrome. There can be too much of a good thing.

I've been doing some chromatization myself here lately. Started with the trim rings for the speedo/tach (my mini is Nav enabled) from Moss Mini and love them!! EASY to install and a factory look. Next, i moved on to the Nav trim pieces and the "Chrome Center Vent Ring - Pair" also from Moss. I'm happy with the Nav trim pieces, but got one on a little crooked and it rubs against the Menu button, so take caution when installing that piece. The Center Vent Rings are a little dissapointing. I was expecting the same type rings as the speedo/tach rings, but these are just thin little rings that sit on top of the vents housing, kind of a highlite of chrome. My next thought is towards the button guard things, but i'm not sure i like the looks of those yet. will then probably go for the ring around the shifter, and then who knows where.

I prefer the full covers over the rings, but the rings look good too. Moss Mini sells the chrome covers for gear shift and two front cup holders as a all-in-one package, they look great along side the stock chrome gearshit **** (MC). Moss also sells chrome covers for the Speedo, and center vents (non-navigation), hazard, and dashboard light switch.

I have pretty muchthe entire chrome design line from Moss Mini on the car and I think it adds a lot to the basic interior . Of course it is always a matter of opinion if it is a good thing or not.

I like the chrome trim rings-they come from different sources (some are german-speaker rings/toggle rings)
I have-

And chrome/CF shift ****

Just FYI...Paul Mullett (of MINI2 fame) just posted this information pertaining to the upcoming factory chrome kit. He hasn't released the supplier name yet, but I'm anxious to find out! Otherwise, MINI dealers will carry the kit in the near future. Good luck!

For those with Auto Meter accessory gauges and would like to have chrome rings for them, there's a solution. Auto Meter has "Traditional Series" with chrome bezel, which can be used for the Ultar-lite series as long as they're the same size gauges.

>>minihune, I love your wood dash and trim. Is this part of a kit or is it custom?
>>
Thanks. I removed the stock dash and various trim pieces and had them custom airbrushed in a wood finish then put them back in place. Rough cost $300 to paint.
