I'm impressed that both our scales were so close.

How does one remove the Whalen ****?

Do you just move the collar up and pull hard just like taking off the stock ****? I tried a couple of times to remove it but decided just to leave well enought alone until I got more info. Just want to be able to bring it in when it gets really cold (or hot) outside.

Removal is a piece of cake:

Grip ****.
With fingers, pull locking collar upwards into ****'s main body. (should move about 1/2").
Lift entire Whalen off of shaft.

Total operation should be under 10 seconds, with no black eyes.

Just tried it and I was able to take it off, but it took a lot of effort to pull it off. Is this normal? When installing, I have to give it a good wack for it to slide down all the way and lock in place.

It should be pretty hard to pull off. I'm was expecting a hard struggle with my know but after one quick and solid jerk, it poped right off. I'm an athlete though. It installs with a solid push downward.

Wailing with a WHALEN. Question?

Got my Whalen today. GREAT. Got the stock **** off without any black eye or broken mirror. Question once I put the Whalen on--is it supposed to rotate? It locks in and I can't take it off without using the spring device. I am just surprised it doesn't lock in --w/o being able to rotate. I have an 05--but had read there were no changes. Help please. Thanks Nick.

If it rotates, it is not all the way down into the shift lever. If you look into the Whalen you'll see a bar that fits nicely into the groove on the top of the shift lever. When the **** is all the way down, the bar slips into the groove and prevents rotation.

Keep trying. You'll get it.

Thanks Morales. You were right, I didn't have it down far enough. Fits like a glove. Really Nice. I sure appreciate the collective wisdom of the members on this forum. None would ever mistake me for being mechanically inclined. Challenged ?? Yes. Inclined? NO. Nick

Doug is great. Still waiting on that Whalen e-brake piece to match though.

Been planning it for a long time!

I tried for a while to get a couple other shops to whip me up some prototypes; but after waiting forever with no results, I gave up and bought my own CNC lathe.

Now I use the lathe to make **** components that I used to job out; and I haven't found the time to work on e-brake handles!

Sheesh! Too many irons in the fire these days, I guess.

Better not wait THAT long!

I'll be 51 this New Year's Eve; I may not have three more good years left in me!
