Interior/Exterior R53 Seat Swap
R53 Seat Swap
Background: I have an '04 R53 (which I'm trying to sell BTW) and an '06 R53. My '06 is now the track-car. If I can't sell the '04, it will continue as my daily driver.
Question 1: Can I put my '06 Punch Leather front seats in my '04 Panther Leather car? Which is to say, will the plugs for seats with airbags and weight sensors ('06) work in a car without the sensor plug ('04)? Is it just an issue of the passenger seat or do both seats have weight sensors in the '05-'06 cars?
Question 2: Is there a resistor or DIY solution for after I install racing seats in the '06 that will prevent the airbag light from going off? How about if I remove the rear curtain airbags when I put the cage in? Black tape?...
Question 3: For the '04 Car -- as long as I disconnect the battery before unplugging the seats, then plug in the seats from the '06 car (assuming the answer to question 1 is "yes plug and play"), then reconnect the battery, will I set off the airbag light and have to beg the dealer or someone with the right computer to reset it?

The '06 seats will work fine in the '04 car, but the seat weight sensor won't be hooked up as there is no wiring for it in the '04.
in my '03 with recaro pole positions, i used a resister on the car wiring for the side airbag, but the value is different between the early cars like mine and a newer facelift car, as far as i know.
concerning my car, i didn't even need to unplug the battery to disconnect them. I just made sure the key wasn't in the ignition. Same as when i swapped steering wheels.
