Interior/Exterior Tinted Tailights.....
For anyone interested... MINI Madness has a set of tinted tailights (actually just a tinted film cover) available now.
I'd really like to see a full view of the car before I decide if I like it or not but I thought someone may be interested.

For more info on this product check out MINI Madness.

I've always questioned the reasoning behind putting a dark tint on a light that either I want people to see, or that I want to use to see (headlights)... it's sorta the same reason i don't wear sunglasses at night.. (sorry Corey Hart...)

I think it's not as safe, but it does look sweet. Has anyone seen blue dots in the Mini lenses? I used to think that they looked goofy, but I saw a set on a charger that prfectly matched up to the lense and didn't have a metal shroud. They looked really good.
Cheers

How could it be? I remember seeing someone with the headlight covers driving at night one night... you could tell that their lights were much dimmer because of them...

Although I agree, I immediately wondered about the combination of Rear Lights and this tint? The extra light could offset the tint, but still give a great aesthetic!

Some people put small blue lenses in the middle of their tail-light lens. When the light is on, from a distance it makes your tail-lights look purple. They look really wierd at first, but a pretty distinctive.
I think the lights are on in all of the above pics..... including the Non-tinted lights.
Don't know if it's brake lights or just running lights though. Sorry.
Hope this helps,

Has anyone taken this idea (of the film overlay) to the wheelwell corner markers? I'd like to find some clear or white replacements for those lens too. Our Indi Blue car would be more visually settled with a complete switchout of the amber colored plastics.

Standing behind my MINI with the extra light wired up, it's brighter, but unless you're looking directly at the top bulb, you don't get that *EAAAAGGG*
feeling in your eyes...

I have a black Cooper and think it might look good if it's not too dark. I actually wrote mini madness a couple months ago when I was looking for a way to temporarily tint my lenses. I saw the film they have for the headlights, and suggested that they make a tinted lense protector for the rear lights. Guess those guys listen
. Too bad I don't get a set now :???:
Unfortunately, I can't justify $99 bucks for a couple pieces of vinyl film. I'm looking for a the appropriate film to have laser cut at a local sign shop. The problem is finding a good opacity, non-permenant, and flexible film. Anyone know what kind to use? 3M, Kapco, Gerber, Avery...etc?

But isn't blacking out the side markers in that 'questionable' area of legality? They were added for the US market because of regulations (side lights and side reflectors).. I would actually rather see a kit to make the whole thing light up, as opposed to the half lit look it has now...
I know, silly me, wanting people to be able to see my car at night/in fog/rain/snow, etc..
