Hello fellow Nam friends and mini owners. I was trying to get some feed back on what people thought about the Alta short shifter? I have a new one in the box and I also have the short Helix adapter. Was wondering what most would recommend using. Thank you and all input is helpful.

 

I have the alta shifter and I love it. Very smooth. Mine has adjustable height, goes from stock down to about 3 to 3.5 inchs shorter than stock height. Also the angle of the handle can be rotated 360°. I have mine at lowest level( have to leave the shifter cover off thats under the car in the tunnel) and the angled toward me for the perfect grip. Like I said I love it. One of the first mods I do to any manual shift cars I get.

 

I love my Helix SS. Can't comment on the Alta. I have a lift so the install for the Helix was easy for me, otherwise it's probably a bit more difficult.

 

Will you be doing the work yourself or paying a shop for the install? Seems like one would cost more than the other. Not sure how much this matters to you but it could be a deciding factor...

 

I have access to a lift as well, I did the work and went with the Helix instead of the Alta. Installed while I mounted my new Stratmosphere Exhaust...Love it!

Ok thanks. What year is it for? I know mine is in the middle of the switch. I will have to search and see what one I need. Also what you think u want for it?

 

The box says 2002-2003, I didnt relize there was a difference in the shifter. Thought it was just the difference was with bushings and color that hold the shifter in place. Not trully sure though. I told the other person I would do it for $150 shipped. I also have a stock BMW gauge cluster only no gauges that mounts down by the cig lighter and a Alta Cold air intake both new in boxes as well, just letting ya know. Thanks again
