Wouldn't mind a REVERSE gear light.... My wife accidently put my MINI in reverse when looking for 1st. Quite a shock!!

Keep us informed if you attempt something like this.

As many said in the thread you linked to "useless". And really if you don't know what gear you are in you should not be driving a Stick.

I can see that some people may hit reverse and not first but having a light to tell you that will in most cases be to late. I.E. taking off from a stop light and putting the car in reverse you will be letting the clutch out before you notice the light and well that means that you are going backwards anyway.

yes. everyone in that thread said useless, and the know how to drive a stick comment.

the point beyond the fact that its useless, is that its a great diy, and that guy did amazing work for $5 in parts! this can be applied to just about any gauge out there now, and provides a great insight for creating your own custom gauges!

Namely, faceplates! this has inspired me to create custom faceplates with say, mini logos! you can now get cheap gauges from wherever, or even used ones, and refurb them into factory styling!

i would like to hear more Ideas on gauges and clusters from people

Not trying to rain on your parade here.

I will agree the mounting is "unique" but alas it looks like plumbing parts and will always look like plumbing parts.

But along that idea there is somewhere to run for sure. big problem I see is that many gauges are deeper than the distance from the front lip of the elbow to the turn and thus would stick out from the front of the elbow and need an extension. But I am sure it could be done.
