Saris Bones 2 Bike Rack

So I spent a while shopping around for a bike rack. My main concern was fitment. Sure, they are many racks out there but which actually fit / look decent on the mini. I was even considering a roof rack at one point but giving how I was only planning on carrying my bike I just couldn't justify spending over $500 for roof rack and rails and then the talk of less gas mileage and added wind noise with and without the bike on the roof. With that being said, there was many aftermarket racks I looked at and considered. After seeing the yakima, thule, and saris racks I finally chose the saris. I go to my local trails about 3 times a week and also noticed a lot of guys using the Saris so I decided to give it a shot. I found an amazing deal on one locally that I just couldn't pass up. With that being said, here's a pic. For those with any questions please feel free to post. Thanks!!

hey, i have the same bike rack but for 3 bikes, installed the same way you do (lower legs against the trunk lid, rather than the bumper). with the limited use, the lower legs rubber stops scratched the trunk lid pretty bad. i think dirt gets in between the rubberized stops and the trunk lid and as you load/unload the bikes, it scratched the paint surface. be on a look out for that.

fyi, i switched to a roof bike carrier.

I agree, extended use may and will cause some sort of scratches on paint finish. I'm going to invest in some clear tape like the 3M type to put 2 small patches where the lower rubber foot pads touch on the trunk lid. Here's a site I found while doing some research. Some bike folks have said to use this as well.

Here's the clear pads I applied to the boot to protect the finish. It's crystal clear so when I have the rack off you can barely see it since it's transparent.
