fitment of R56 seats into R53??

My Mini is in the body shop and has blown both seat airbags. The seats are the MC40 black and red leather ones. Someone here had some for sale for a great deal but the body shop said they found some. Anyway, the guy here sold his and the seats came into the body shop in tan leatherette...WTF ???
I don't believe I can find the right OEM seats for my car since they are pretty rare, so I have been shopping and found some R56 seats and wondered if there are any major fitment issues in these. Some I found also have heated seats and wondering if this is a major deal to hookup. My wifes MINI has the heated seats and sometimes they are really nice to have.

Any opinions would be helpful..Thanks in advance

Your original seats couldn't be reupholstered or sewn up? Something about seat airbags unavailable separately or the body shop/upholsterer not willing to basically disable and remove airbags...

Those tan seats, came into your body shop for your car, but color is an issue? Reupholster, maybe?

I gave the body shop another week to find the right seats and maybe they will be able to do that. They just received rear seats for my car, which is funny because I have rear seat delete, but at least it appears the seats may be available. As a last resort, they said the local upholstery shop can replace air bags and stitch them back up as they spit where they are sewn when the airbags blow. I guess we will see where this ends up going.

@jerome_72 - Could you provide specific information on how you adapted the R56 seat wiring and plugs into the plugs on your R53 and any other item to make this work? Thanks!

Cheers, Thompson

Wow that looks great. Even though that looks to be your only post, I can hope you'll pop back on to see this. Please give some information or details on this! Thanks!

I am looking for more information regarding this swap as well... I have searched but could not find details on the swap. I currently have issues with the passenger seat occupancy sensor in my 06 MCS and have always loved the feel and look of the R56 seat... wondering how much modification is required to make this work.
