Does anyone have an install how-to on chrome mirror covers?

I just picked up the covers from Classic today, I thought they were just stick on pieces, but they're actually replacements... How do you get the stock covers off?

My MCS should be here in March and I've already got a TON of stuff ready to install on it... is this normal?

Thanks,
c615586

Can't help you with the mirror covers, but it is normal to accumulate lots of "stuff"rior to you getting your MINI. A word of caution though, There was a design change in the shift lever and there will be a change in the exhaust hangers so I would not be buying any of those items for now.

Cheers,

JD

They come off easy. You need to rip the mirror glass off the car. Move it to one side and get your hand as far in as you can. Pull out on the mirror glass with a firm pull and it will pop out. If you have heated mirrors there will be two wires connected to the back. You can unplug them or let it hang. There are 5 tabs on the backside that you need to unclip with some screwdrivers. You normally will need two people not to damage parts. Have one guy on the inside with two screw drivers pulling down on the top tabs while another guy in on the back of the mirror pulling outwards a bit. Once the top in unclipped repeat for the bottom two and they are now off. Slide you new one in place and make sure all the clips are down and then add you mirror glass back on. The clips for that go around the remote motor, not into slots like it looks like it should. Hope that helps you. Good luck.

and yes that is normal.

Simply pry off the old ones (starting from the under side of the mirror) using a plastic or metal spoon (covered in tape) and place the Chrome covers in their place.
This per OUT MOTORING, I did it and it workstakes less than 5min per side, they just POP OFF

No, no, no. You guys are making this too difficult. Rule of thumb: If you have to pry, force rip or hammer, you are probably not using the approved mfr disassembly method.

Take a look at your new mirror covers. See the four little tabs inside? They are easy to reach. Simply insert a screwdriver (Snap-on only please) in the gap between the edge of the mirror and the mirror housing. Press down about an eighth of an inch on the two lower tabs and the old mirror cap will pop off - no muscle, no damage.

All I can add is that mine were initially a beeyatch to remove (& scary in doing so, too). Felt like I actually tore them off of my MC . In the end, it was all good & I also then realized that Aaron's Out Motoring Chrome Mirror Covers were/are much, much better than the adhesive covers. Plus, I PMed Aaron for just a little insight on how-to & he then promptly called my cell at 1:00 a.m. (his time) from his home & left a long, very detailed message on how to install them (also a how-to on my Out Motoring Chrome Side Markers). For all aiming at getting these, I'd recommend:
