Idea for front splitter?

So i was thinking of making a front splitter out of plexi glass or something like it and ordering:
http://www.carbonmods.co.uk/products...-tie-bars.aspx

to add on along with some way to bolt it to the bottom

would this work or would i run into problems at higher speeds or something

I made mine and it looks kinda like that...
I put 6-8 3/4'' bolts in the bottom and used the turnbuckles out front with no problems of it holding on... I also used some door edge guard for the front lip area to keep rock chips away..
My first one was Black ABS plastic..
Then made some alittle wider out of clear Lexan and just covered them in
matte black vinyl or carbon fiber vinyl on the top side..

Slightly off-topic, but that is one bad-*** looking R50. Love the checkered flag stripes. Can't wait until my aero grill gets here!

Dumb question, but what's the purpose of the splitter? Or is it just aesthetic?

For most purposes aesthetic imo, but theres people who say it does stuff with wind and aerodynamics to lower times but very minimal but im not for sure

Thanks, dannyhavok
For me it is just for looks, but it should give the front end more down force..

I was able to draw it on the computer and then plot out a full size paper pattern, then transfer that to cardboard for test fits. Once I was happy with that cut it out on the CNC machine at work...
