Upholstered door and dash bits: looking for info

Could be I am struggling here because I'm lacking the correct terminology, and that whenever I find a promising looking post it's so old that the image links have long been deleted.

I'm planning on sewing a pair of gear and e- brake boots, and thought it might be cool to use the same fabric on the inner door scoop/oval-shaped panel. How hard is it to get out?

Also, the plate behind the speedo/hazards etc in the center. How easy is it to remove that to cover it?

I do not have any awesome automotive skills, but my neighbor has, and since he's built his kit cobra and modded the kids' cars he is itching for a project.

Of course, given his skills, I should probably have him install pulleys and airhorns... Those are on the list.

Thanks in advance.

She's an 04 MCS.

the oval in the doors cannot be removed. I remember a thread somewhere that had to deal with removing the oval trim on the door when wrapping it with carbon fiber, and although not difficult, you need to be willing to go all out for it.
essentially you take off the door card (there are 4 torx screws, the last of whitch is hidden behind the reflector in the upper back corner, the reflector simply pries off easily) and a bunch of clips (just pull firmly in the front upper corner to get those poppin off).
once the door card is off, if you look at the inside you can see that oval trim is not screwed or clipped on, but rather they put the plastic studs through the holes to hold it on and then melted the studs, creating "plastic rivits". you can remove these by simply cutting them off, and on re-assembly screw very narrow thread large head screws into those posts that are left, or jb weld, or some other kind of epoxy them back on.

in a jist, if you not willing to cut and then Jerry-rig it back together, you cannot do this.

Thanks. That would explain why I can find so little about that idea.

Yeah - not willing to go the cut/jerry-rig route, so that's out as an option.

Quite possibly. Maybe I'll do a test quilted fabric piece to see what it looks like before committing to the door disassembly.
