Interior/Exterior Work in Progress: Custom Graphics for Volly
Work in Progress: Custom Graphics for Volly
I'm working on a sketch of the custom graphics I'd like to put on Volly, my MINI Cooper S. Just thought I'd share what I have so far and maybe get some feedback.
I wanted the bonnet "stripes" to resemble the ones I currently have installed, but to also add a bit of interest to them by matching my side panel. I'm wondering whether I should just leave the design white or get a little bit more bold by adding some color to it. I really like the idea of doing some red accents but I'm not sure it'd look right. My other concern is that parts of the design might be too delicate. Maybe I should solidify it some more? Volly and I would appreciate any thoughts on the design! Thanks!

That looks great. The sides might be a little busy for some, but I say if its your style you shuld go for it! Our cars afterall are a reflection of our personalities, and everyone is different.
I love the bonett stripes, they are a lot more interesting than the plain solid stripes most people have.
The design would be easy for a good vinyl cutter to handle. In the past I have had a size 14 text cut, and it came out perfect. The good thing with vinyl is that if you ever want to add to the design, or remove it, its just peel and stick.

Hm, that's an idea. I think I might play around with a few different ideas that include the red.

Why in the world did you get size 14 text done? That's tiny!

It was for some old car club decals, back when I was stationed at Fort Campbell. I also had some real tiny stuff done to use as a masking, working with plexiglass for an audio system.
With the Hyper blue, I might keep the red to a minimum, white and black both bring the metallic out of the blue. Red might be a little too eye catching, and draw your focus away from the lines of the car. See how the sides would look shrunk down to below the top of the wheelwell, but keep the intricate details. You are on the right track.

That's actually a really good idea. The side image is way too big. I'll post an update when I redraw it!
I think that the sides look GREAT! I think that it looks like more thought was put into it the way it wraps all the way around the rear wheel. When I had my Hyper Blue I went crazy with my vinyl cutter all the time. My favorite was when I did the car up for Halloween, it was cool! I wanted to do a flame job all the way down the side of the car but I never did get around to it. I still have the files so perhaps someday!
I keep looking at your design, it looks like Volley belongs at the beach!
Maby you could intergrate some of those Hawian flowers in a contrast color, maby even a BIG one as a roof graphic?

No new designs sketches yet, but thought I'd share some pics of the leather pieces I've added to Volly's interior! They include the shift boot, ebrake boot, armrests, door bars, and both downtubes. I put them in with my brother's help during my vacation to Montana. I think the finished look is awesome!
My newest addition to Volly is a hyper blue ebrake handle! It makes a huge difference in bringing out the blue of the leather.
Now, just to find a matching hyper blue shift ****. Any ideas? I can't seem to find one.

As a fan of both Disney Pixar's Cars and MINI's, it was just a matter of time before I did something like this to Volly. The sunshade is completely handpainted by me, including Volly's name in the corner of the sunshade, and took nearly 7 hours with all of the measurements and several coats of paint. The edges are done with a checkered pattern, something I'd like to do later as a theme for Volly.
