Bonnet Stripes

If a car is ordered from the factory with bonnet stripes, are they applied at the factory or at the dealership?

Also, are they easy to remove?

Thanks

i removed mine while detailing this afternoon. started an edge with my fingernail and use a heat gun on low to soften up the adhesive. they pulled up real easy and left no residue. my car is about 6 months old, so i imagine you'll have no problem if you are doing it as soon as you take delivery.

Hi,
Not questioning Melangell's knowledge, but I was told:
1.) If ordered from the factory, they are installed at the factory.

2.) There is an after market install from the dealer. However, it is more expensive than the original option.

Option from the factory $150.00

from the Dealer $300 plus.

I may be wrong, but this is what I was told by my dealer.

It differs from dealer to dealer. I had them put on just before I took delivery and the cost was $225. Looking back on that its a huge rip off. A good tint shop should be able to sell and install them for less than $100.

I will be removing my bonnet stripes this weekend to put on some new stripes. standby. Actually lots of changes are coming this weekend. Bye-bye to the rest of the chrome on my car.

If you order them from the factory and they are on your build in step 1 on the order then they are factory installed. If you select them in step 6 as an accessory then they are dealer installed.

So the easy way is if they show on your build that has your production number on it (the dealer should provide this to you or can if you ask) then they are factory installed if they dont show on this sheet they are dealer installed.

I only know from experience (last 1/4 of 2010)... I ordered the car with sport stripes and that's how it was entered on the build sheet (I was watching and have a copy). Here is what my car looked like when it showed up at the dealer:

This is what I picked up:

And hating chrome, this is how I drove it off the lot :

Amanda, since you are here, do you have a line on 2011 light beige lateral sun visors? Seems they are hard to come by and I want one for my passenger side.

Right this is what I was saying. Sport stripes are selected in step 5 on the build and are installed at the dealership.

If you got a build from your dealership with the production number (meaning what we enter in our sytem and send to MINI directly not what you build on miniusa.com) and it shows bonnet stripes they are factory installed. Anything that is on the build we send to MINI will show only factory installed options and will not show any accessories. Does that make better sense?

Also I will check on that part for you tomorrow when parts is in! It is the side sun visor that comes only on the drivers side from the factory correct? So it goes where the Oh no handle would be on the passanger side? I want to make sure I am looking for the right part after all!

Ahh, okay. i was stripe-confused !

Yes ma'am, to replace the "oh no" (although I have other names for it) handle. I can find it in anthracite and the older light grey but seems the 2011 light beige color is constrained. If you can get hold of one, I would gladly buy it from you.

the whole stripe thing is a little confusing so i totally understand!

I will check tomorrow and let you know what I can find. It could be because the color is so new we dont have them in stock. But I will check the status and let you know what I can find for you!

Thanks for all of the information!

Regardless if the stripes are put on at the dealer or the factory, they are still relatively easy to remove if I dislike, correct?
